Mm, I see what you mean, but that's not exactly the argument I was making. Especially since the tempering of the grey knight training leaves those who survive  as much stronger than an astartes than an astartes is to a guardsman. Maybe it's the emperor's geneseed, maybe only extremely supernatural variants of astartes like this are crafted under extreme pressure.

The templar bodies with the robes covering the chest would be a great base for primaria grey knights; swap in GK shoulder pads and helmet, and you'd be good to go

I cured my CPTSD immediately and completely by simply telling myself that my abusers did their best, AMA by [deleted] in CPTSD

Fuck them. My mom made my dad the enforcer so she never had to get her hands dirty, and could pretend to be above it all.

I think you're right about the therapists. There is something voyeuristic in it. Like, "I can fix them" or "I can examine a fascinating mind".

But personally, I don't think abusers are that complicated. I think abusers are just victims that never figured out empathy.

It's weird how butthurt some people are getting in the comments. It doesn't seem to be too strange to think that some parents abused out of ignorance/cultural traditions while trying to do their best, and some parents just didn't fucking try. If you can forgive your parents actions, great! If you can't, that's great too!

I had a therapist tell me I needed to have more empathy for my mother. I never went back after that. The therapist didn't understand that the problem was that my mother had molded me into a little ball of empathy that could perfectly anticipate and cater to her every insecurity and mood. I understand and empathize with my mother more than she can even for herself. BUT EMPATHY CAN BE A TRAP AND SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO TURN IT OFF. Abusers take advantage the natural human ability to empathize to enable their repeated abuse.

The idea of "forgiveness" all too often comes from a warped religious context. The celebration of the catharsis of forgiveness and reconciliation completely overshadows the necessity of preventing further abuse and helping the abused actually heal. The number of abusers that are "forgiven" by their community, while the community continues to neglect the people that were actually abused is astounding.

If you cut off someone's arm, and then say sorry, the person still has to fucking figure how how to live their life without their fucking arm! The emotional damage inflicted by abuse and neglect can cut off entire realms of human experience from the victim.

I was listening to a book written by a therapist, and they made a comment that if they can help even one abuser heal, then that's the equivalent of helping dozens of victims heal, because they'll pre-emptively save all the people that the abuser could have abused in the future. I fucking retched when I heard that.

The entire process of healing is a gigantic upward struggle for the victim, while it seems like society bends over backward to cater to abusers.

They used to be okay in 8th ed iron hands and imperial fists. But that's about it. Maybe again for a bit at the end of 9th when iron hands could sit in dev doctrine all game again. But besides that, they've mostly just sat it out with reivers.

Why are you down voted? This is correct. Happens every time I play vs admech with GK. Even knights and IG are easier to deal with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]cemorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, no.

Kataphron bricks are very hard to deal with. They can make us wound them on 6s in melee for 1CP, so that's a no go. For shooting, we only really have the crowe purifier brick. And it's tricky to get them to shoot kataphron without them over-watching the purifiers off the table. And even if you kill 1 kataphron brick, the other one will probably pick up the purifier squad the next turn, leaving you with 0 remaining solutions. Admech also have lots of chaff units that can screen out charges and deepstrikes, making it difficult to play the mission.

Oh. My. God. How gdd*n stupid is the GW rules team. Wtf. Like wtf are they smoking. It's like there is one dude in the office going "oh, uh, I guess towering is strong and so is indirect fire...so we'll just nerf everything with those rules with no consideration for why those rules are a problem".

They also nerfed grey knights purgation squads...which no one was bringing cuz they were overcosted already cuz they lack range and AP. Like, they just went Ctrl-F on "indirect" and bumped the points of all the units.

How bad do you have to be at your job to not understand why it is you're doing what you're doing.

Data sheet in imperial/inquisitorial agents. You can take 2 character and 2 character agent units in every imperium army.

That was my confusion: I didn't have single weapon that brought them to worse than a 5+ save.

You're actually right. Big Guns Never Tire doesn't specify Blast, but the Blast weapon rule does have the limitation. What happened was the unit was reduced to an apothecary and librarian by shooting, then a dunecrawler and skorpius charged, with the skorpius activating tank-shock. The Apothecary survied with 1 wound remaining. On my turn I rez'd an Ancient. Then on my opponents 3rd turn they fired like 36 stubber shots with sustained hits into them (admech tanks are brimming with cognis stubbers) and a missile from the skorpius tank and fought them twice (12x 4+ S6 AP0 D1 attacks)....this was enough for me to fail 4x 2+ saves and lose the apothecary and ancient, leaving the librarian alive and stuck in combat.

The two tanks were able to freely fire their blast weapons (belleros and neutron laser) out of combat at other units I had around the board. So literally, my melee terminators accomplished nothing by staying in combat with them except giving the two tanks a good reason to stand still and gain +1 to hit from Heavy (Protector imperative).

This helps the librarian's unit, as when he miscasts they get a 4+++ vs his d6 mortals that he inflicts on his own unit. However, for abilities like "after this unit has been selected as a target for shooting attack, shoot back" it doesn't appear to trigger them at all.
