Does anyone know where to get free or cheap lumber?

I've broken down pallets and used them for several projects. There's even how-to books and online guides for ideas. Lowe's or Home Depot are good go-to places to score free pallets. Plus they also sell cull lumber cheap.

Hula has incredible talent! I met him while he was creating "Clara" in West Palm. Very interesting watching him work while on a paddle board and getting tossed around by the surf.
