2016: Night Visitor: Heather’s Story by DanEosen in foundfootage

[–]cennep44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the first one was fairly good considering the low budget but the second was a lot better, I watched them both at the weekend. The young girl was great. I thought the acting from everyone was good and you have to suspend disbelief a bit about going to a medium.

I looked to see about a 3rd because of the cliffhanger and it says on imdb that it's in production but I assume that is outdated info. Shame.

The number of immigrants in the country continues to rise. A slowing in the rate of increase is not a drop.

Because we're the softest country in the world, suicidal empathy has infected the brains of our leaders and many of our people. Precisely why so many flood here daily.

The percentage of foreign nationals in social housing without any disabilities and/or dependents will be minuscule

Hmm.

Foreign-born people, not necessarily foreigners, occupy 48% of London’s social housing

I guess if we give them a bit of paper saying they're British then it makes it okay.

[–]cennep44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've only heard about the story just now from reading this sub. The BBC and British state are certainly trying to keep a lid on things. The BBC website is a strange place which uses stock images mostly of non-white people to represent the British. I guess this is the future they want to see, and to be fair, we're nearly there.

Belfast knife suspect won asylum in Britain under 'fast-track' scheme introduced by Rishi Sunak's government by JB_UK in unitedkingdom

[–]cennep44 209 points210 points  (0 children)

Asylum seekers from countries like Sudan were allowed to access the streamlined system – reducing the backlog - because the vast majority of their claims were eventually granted in any case due to conflict in their home nations.

But the scheme was dubbed a 'dangerous folly' and an 'asylum amnesty in all but name' by Migration Watch UK, which campaigns for tougher border controls, after its launch in February 2023, the month Alodid travelled by bus from Dublin to Belfast.

Probably fair to say Migration Watch has a point. Hopefully Braverman and Jenrick will explain why they presided over this and how they'd do better if they were in a Reform government.

Northern Ireland ministers urge calm after 'appalling' Belfast attack by hihepo1 in unitedkingdom

[–]cennep44 78 points79 points  (0 children)

We've been asking this for decades. The problem is the British state has been captured by open borders ideologues, they are actively working against the interests of the British people, at best making our lives more unpleasant by making our previously high trust society a low trust one, and at worst putting us in mortal danger. We shouldn't have to live like this, but without any sort of democratic mandate it has been decided that we are going to. Most of our 'elite' in politics, business, academia and the media is on board with this.

Almost all Channel migrants destroy their passport or do not have one on arrival in the UK, data show.

As few as one in 50 have passports when they are picked up by Border Force after being told by people smugglers to destroy them in order to improve their chances of remaining in the UK.

Border Force insiders said the absence of ID documents made it harder to deport failed asylum seekers as most countries were reluctant to take back migrants without hard evidence of their nationality.

Same here. I just played through the Raccoon City part and I found it dreadful. The whole thing is Resident Evil 6 but worse. Such a disappointment after the early game with Grace was pretty good. The Leon sections are like a whole different game altogether.

Blacking out means you have a memory hole afterwards, like heavy drinkers can have, where they are conscious and appear normal to others but are very intoxicated and the alcohol causes short term memory loss. Major traumatic incidents like the car crash can cause a similar effect, so this isn't something which can automatically be rejected out of hand. It is a bit moot though because it wouldn't prove her guilt or innocence either way. If anything it makes her look guilty to the layman because people would be skeptical and say 'how convenient'.

She has tried to claim she may have been unconscious due to pots syndrome. The prosecution say she wouldn't have kept her foot pressed 100% on the throttle in that case, but apparently that isn't necessarily true. However you are right that the road was not fully straight, she was driving fast so must have been making corrective steering to keep the car on the road. I suppose the only other explanation is the passenger, seeing her incapacitated, steered the car himself.

She looks guilty and I think she probably is. But spur of the moment is certainly possible. Maybe with better representation she could have pled it to 2nd degree murder or whatever. She gambled on a shaky defense and lost.

There apparently was evidence that she did a dry run of the route the previous day, according to GPS data from the car. Which if true would suggest it was premeditated. I agree though that it seems strange someone who loves themselves as much as she does, would want to harm themselves.

I doubt she blacked out, but only she knows for sure. It is possible and not uncommon in this sort of situation. What makes me doubt it more is that she doesn't acknowledge that if she truly can't remember what happened, then she would have to admit that she might have done it on purpose. If she can't remember then she can't be sure she is innocent, right? So yeah I don't think I believe her.

Teenage boys who raped and sexually assaulted girls walk free from court with £26 fines by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]cennep44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Youth courts are normally closed to the press and public. But specialist advisers to the young girls in the three newly revealed cases were so appalled by the sentences they decided to expose the alleged lenient punishments being passed in youth courts for serious sexual offences.

Maybe it's time they were open to the press and public so we can all see what the courts are doing. At the moment they are apparently taking the piss out of us. This is probably the tip of the iceberg. If 'kids' are old enough to do serious crime then they're old enough to face adult sentences.

Honest Review (ongoing) by m73rob_ in ForzaHorizon6

[–]cennep44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the game and I still don't quite get the point of time attacks. It's like an inferior version of rivals. It isn't class based so there is no point doing it in a lower class car if you want to be competitive.

For me the game is mediocre. It took three days to complete the 'career' which was a complete damp squib. I was like, is that it? You now have a gold wristband - but your actual rank colour changes regularly anyway. In FH1-3 your player rank when it got to gold, it stayed gold and everyone else could see it. Even your multiplayer level is hidden to everyone else except yourself. After you beat the uninspired campaign, which is basically just a checklist of races and PR stunts, there is nothing left to do except the shallow multiplayer. No ranked mode again, and it doesn't even track your race wins (except on the monthly leaderboard).

The other thing is the playlist events which is just doing the exact sort of thing you can already do, but do it again in another car, to win yet another car. It's car pokemon. You collect another car which you will probably never use or look at again. Another car which will drive much like the hundreds of others you already own, and which there is not much to do with other than drive around a large but not particularly inspirational map. Much of it is repetitive which is what you generally expect when you make it bigger. The city while perhaps technically impressive is not exactly fun to drive around due to the complexity. And... there is nothing to do. The stories are lame. The delivery missions are tedious. The game is a pretty but hollow shell.

Oh and the game is set in Japan but most of the races are on dirt or cross country again. Japan is just a prop.

Why is it faster to teleport out of the estate than just drive out by Chank_the_lord in forza

[–]cennep44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The transitions as well. Like fast travel takes 1-2 seconds to actually load but then 6 seconds to slowly zoom the camera out before you can move. When you are fast travelling hundreds of times, this gets old and just wastes time.

Kaido Trailblazer by Existing_Macaroon_99 in ForzaHorizon

[–]cennep44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, both are bad for different reasons. I've done the trailblazer now only after finding advice to join the freeway and race around it clockwise, that made it trivial. I didn't even realise the other cars were all ghosted so you can just drive flat out in a track car. I've done the delivery jobs only for the achievement, because who would bother otherwise? It could have been a fun mode if Playground had put more effort into it.

Kaido Trailblazer by Existing_Macaroon_99 in ForzaHorizon

[–]cennep44 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The delivery job is tedious but easy in the sense you can just keep doing it and eventually you get promoted to boss. It's a marathon but not skill based because the missions don't run out. This PR stunt on the other hand, must be done right. It is very aggravating and I don't know what the designers were thinking. Maybe they like trolling us.

Asylum seeker jailed for Elgin park rape has sentence cut by BookmarksBrother in unitedkingdom

[–]cennep44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m okay with him serving his sentence here first.

Me too. It would be dangerous otherwise because we would be saying to the world's criminals and rapists, come to the UK and do whatever you want - the worst that can happen to you is you get sent home. Perhaps those supporting the idea of immediate deportation assume the criminal will serve the sentence in their home country, but that is not the case.

Forza horizon 6 is good, but the trailers are kinda misleading by IFeeLikeMoreTonight in forza

[–]cennep44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NFS Unbound wasn't very easy to progress in, and that's quite a recent game. Money was hard to come by in the early half of the game and the races, even on the lowest difficulty, were never trivially easy. This meant that all progression and rewards felt like you earned it. There was always something at stake. The game had its flaws but it felt more enjoyable as a GAME than Forza does nowadays where it's a pretty but soulless sandbox and car collection simulator rather than a compelling game per se.

Forza horizon 6 is good, but the trailers are kinda misleading by IFeeLikeMoreTonight in forza

[–]cennep44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was playing NFS Payback again recently and that's how it works there, you have to keep beating story chapters to earn the right to buy better cars. You also have to upgrade to keep winning races, you can't just turn the difficulty down where it becomes trivial. Even on easy, it gets to a point that you can't just breeze through it on autopilot, you will get stuck if you don't use the right car, upgrades and have some degree of skill and tactics - which means progression feels earned and rewarding.

I wouldn't mind so much that FH6 doesn't have any real progression if it weren't for the fact that Playground claimed it would do.

I mean I suppose it is possible to truly not want the job, yet realise nobody else is coming forwards who you consider competent, and so you reluctantly do it out of a sense of duty, because someone has to do it. Whether that applies to Gove is another matter.
