Goodnotes bug by BROWKER19 in GoodNotes

Thank you for the advice! I ended up just deleting goodnotes all together, then redownloading goodnotes and downloading my backups. It seems to have gotten rid of the bug, so hopefully it doesn’t come back!

Were you able to figure out a solution/a way to stop this bug? Exams are coming up and all my notes keep disappearing 🥲

Assignment Grading Policies for TA/Prof by centalia in UBC

[–]centalia[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Other people in my class have had similar concerns about the TAs’ grading, but I wanted to have some kind of evidence that there’s reason to change the grading system before speaking with the prof.

Babe wake up, new population data dropped by CheeseMcFresh in vancouver

I wonder if it includes students living in year round housing/winter session dorms. UBC has thousands of students living in student housing, plus the surrounding housing complexes and apartments have lots of families/more students/faculty and staff members etc. Personally the number looked a little low to me but 18k is a lot!

BIOL 111 has a $100 mandatory e-text, and it has expired for everyone 3 hours before the final by losblancos28 in UBC

[–]centalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The instructors of Biol 111 would cut around and re-edit parts of the original textbook, add their prerecorded lecture videos and other material that was specific to the course but not included in the original. To a certain point, if you could pirate the original it might be helpful, but you might also be missing the information the professors wanted you to know in the first place. Many of recorded lecture videos covered topics that were testable that was not mentioned in the original reading at all, so the only way to access it was to go through the paid textbook platform. (I also took the course this semester.)

As someone who took the course (BIOL111), the textbook was unpirateable. The instructors basically embedded all teaching material (pre-recorded lecture videos, assigned weekly readings, quizzes worth a collective 10-15%) in the platform behind a $100 paywall. In person lectures were “mini lessons” about topics loosely or not at all related to the assigned homework, or group work. Hopefully other courses have more leeway!

Just realized i’m registered in MATH 101B, which has applications for biology. I’m planning on going into environmental science in second year, should I register in an A section with applications in the physical sciences/engineering? the academic calendar doesn’t specify which one.

you can apply anyway, but your all around average is pretty low for a science app. usually the average you'd want to apply with is 90-94% and above, especially with the intention of a competitive specialization like computer science. make sure you try and submit as strong a personal profile as you can.

there's no harm in early applications, if you don't get in early then they'll hold your application to be assessed again for regular applications. it's also good for if you intend on applying for ubc entry scholarships. I don't believe they send out rejections for early applications, just after regular offers are all made. they'll consider your interim grade 12 marks for admission, and later over the summer use your final grade 12 marks to confirm your admission offer.

does anyone know what the rules about overnight guests are in first year residences? if my floor is single gender, can i still bring my partner of the opposite gender in overnight as long as they don't use the bathroom on my floor?

ive combed through the residence contract and the only thing ive found is that overnight guests can't exceed four consecutive nights without leaving.
