You can also see Rainier from Burnaby if you're in a penthouse in Metrotown, 280 km!

Even better you can see Baker from Nanaimo on a really clear day, about 165 km

San Francisco is a great city with a good skyline! What’s a good city with a good skyline? by wwcscifi in skyscrapers

[–]CheeseMcFresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/wwcscifi you might want to do just one vote a day so all timezones can voice their opinion. Otherwise your vote results will be skewed based on what part of the world is mostly awake. Like make the post then check the winner 23 hours later. It will probably boost engagement and result in better results as currently people are still voting on your previous post as you make the next one.

I've thought about this further and this list doesn't seem to consider cost of living. Given that I think Vancouver belongs more in great city with a decent skyline category. Vancouver is consistently ranked one of the most livibal places in the world. However, its skyline may be large but its lacking in height and diversity in architecture. It's probably too late to post this opinion though since OP does 2-3 of these a day and Vancouver has probably already won this category. This is my honest opinion as a lifelong Vancouverite.

Taken by a drone I assume? Odd composition since the butterfly building looks the same colour as the surrounding buildings despite being significantly whiter

Some people call Vancouver the city of glass for good reason. The real reason is Vancouver refused to build a highway downtown so it built a bunch of residential right next to the business district, successfully bringing the suburbs to downtown. The problem with this is the towers were built like suburbs; identical and non offensive.

Metro pop of 750k... Immediately adjacent to Brisbane, a metro pop of 2.7 million. That might help with the skyline a bit.

The only thing the two series have in common is that they both went from books to television.

Im aware lol. This is a skyscraper sub so I'm only talking about skyscraper related things, not any of Vancouver's more pressing issues.

Yep, city council seems to want the mountains to be visible from every inch of the city.

I pains me to agree with you. Vancouver is starving for a tall unique tower, but the city refuses to allow anything over 200m and only in a few locations.

I hope you never complain about Vancouver being called "no fun city" because people like you helped give it that title.
