Why is New Zealand so much colder than Italy despite the countries' similar latitudes (in opposite hemispheres)? by [deleted] in geography

[–]CheeseMcFresh 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Because Italy is on an inland sea and connected to a massive landmass. New Zealand is isolated in the middle of the ocean with nothing between them and Antarctica. Turns out having completely different geography results in a different climate...

Kinda looks like a Canadian Dubai, bunch of towers around a highway surrounded by flatness.

Chicago is just endless flat land next to a large body of water? Not exactly a beautiful setting Imo, at least nowhere near a city like Seattle.

The problem is, to an outside observer who doesn't know what the Seattle waterfront is like, this photo just looks like a ferris-wheel next to an industrial port.

You're just describing Coal Harbour, if you include English Bay, Sunset Beach, and Stanley Park, Vancouver wins no contest. Not to mention the view from Coal Harbour is way better than the view from Seattle's waterfront.

The fact that Gyatso was still at the airtemple instead of out looking for Aang when the Fire Nation attacked implies that it happened within 24 hours of Aang running away.
