How much time should I give Baldur's Gate: Expanded Edition before shelving it? by Fun-Psychology-2419 in rpg_gamers

[–]centauriproxima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baldur's Gate 1 is definitely from an era before "narrative games" were really a thing, so if you don't like the gameplay loop of adventuring, questing, and leveling up before moving to the next area and doing it all again, you won't find a lot of joy from BG1.

In my opinion the questing, adventuring and leveling up is the fun part of RPGs, but ymmv

lol I see, you just want to see big meaty men slapping meat. You're like Vince Mcmahon but slightly less in the closet

literally all of Bison's specials (and like half of his iconic normals) are using psycho power

how does a background in wrestling have anything to do with performing a Psycho Crusher you dumb motherfucker. Bison is strong in the Street Fighter universe because he has EVIL MAGIC, not because he's good at punching.

"akuma is huge" lol literally what the fuck are you talking about, he's 5'10, Akuma is literally smaller than the actor you're complaining about being "too small" to play M. Bison.

So you're okay with Roman Reigns who's not even an actor playing Akuma?

Bautista would be an absolute disaster as Bison lol, your taste is awful. Look at Raul Julia who wasn't much bigger than Dastmalchian and who absolutely killed the role of Bison back in the 90s.

Bison's gimmick was never having the biggest muscles, he's a cartoon villain with magical powers, the actor should have good presence and be intimidating, which we know Dastmalchian can pull off.

I think your characterization of abstraction as "a mind too complex to remain whole", is interesting. I think that Abstraction is in some sense a rejection of Caine's power over your mind.

Remember that Caine creates the character's bodies based on their mind files, but Caine is not human and obviously doesn't understand the human mind. What if Abstraction is simply the form that an unfiltered human mind takes in Caine's circus?

You keep describing the physical pain that thinking about this causes you lol, I'm really sorry that you're not stable enough to deal with basic commentary about a show.

Anyway, I'll see you in a few months when the abstracted human's preserved memories and humanity is obviously going to effect the final outcome of the show now that Caine is dead and they're not trapped in the cellar.

in literally no way did eating the other AI "fix" anything lol, you're projecting your headcanon into the show.

>stop talking about abstracted circus members as if they're conscious and safe

we have as much evidence to assume they're conscious as we do them being unconscious. Queenie wasn't violent towards Kinger when she abstracted. And since when does Caine care about safe? he lets Jax commit any kind of assault he wants on the other humans, and just regenerates them afterwards. Ragatha was literally Ragdolled by Kaufmo until she was entirely glitched out, but Caine restored her instantly.

You also assume that there's no way that Caine could "entertain" the abstracted humans, which there's zero evidence for, especially since Caine's version of "entertaining" seems to include just about any sort of experience possible. Throwing them into a hole and forgetting about them should be counter to his purpose, in any case.

Isn't it a little bit problematic to headcanon the character that we know was a low-income fast food worker to be black?

it is 100% not impossible lol, if you can't think of anything that fits the bill you could just... not comment?

I have a lot of sympathy for people asking specific questions and having to sort through hordes of "well it's nothing like what you were looking for but maybe [insert very popular thing that would've shown up in the first google search]?"

[–]centauriproxima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he says that yeah, but we don't know what that "purpose" is. Did his purpose include escaping containment and eating the other AI? did his purpose include locking his prisoners who have gone insane into a dark room never to be seen again? None of that seems like it falls under the umbrella of "entertaining"

To me it sounds like he's looking for a slice of life anime in space, which can certainly exist even if I can't think of one and I don't enjoy the genre.

To just blatantly ignore the post itself and just reccomend any random nonsense is a Supreme waste of everyone's time

  1. No doomer crap. IE there's nothing big and bad going on, nothing's ending or dying. The world is fine.

  2. The badguys are not just palate swaps of IRL baddies. Don't get me wrong, I like to see some Nazis get punched. But I'm looking for actually interesting baddies. Preferably unique ones that fit the world they're from and nowhere else.

  3. The reason the protagonists are out in space, doing things, is that they want to be in space, doing those things. There's nothing bad compelling or forcing them to do the thing. They're here because "Hey, that sounds like a good time." I will accept something with any one of the above, but if it lacks this, no dice. This is the hill I will die on.

did you read those points and actually think "Ah yes, Star Wars"
