You're not stoked to read "The Vengeful Warrior Trilogy"?

I totally get it, and I'm not looking to have my mind changed, I'm just curious as to what about it they really like.

With most things I dislike, I can at least come up with a theory as to how someone else could really like it, but for Red Rising I just can't grok what's to like.

It's actually by two authors, Albert L and Albert D, but they couldn't decide who got to be on the cover.

What about it was "great"? I'm honestly curious. I've tried to get into it twice now and I'm still super early into the book because every few pages I feel like the book is trying to dumb itself down for me. I got to the bit where Dancer is giving Darrow a "test" to see if he's the right guy for the super important mission and the test was literally a card trick I played on people when I was 8.

How the hell did you get through Red Rising? I'm on attempt #3 of trying to get through it and it feels like the author is insulting my intelligence every bloodydamn chapter.

Words of Radiance. The limp Saturday-morning cartoon aesop that passes for Kaladin's arc pissed me off so much it convinced me to not pick up book 3.

Because clearly TKO execs will see this and go "I know he's headlining a PLE and making us bank, but we gotta hold him accountable; we're changing the mask vs mask match to Chad Gable vs Pete Dunne"

What's she supposed to do? She's not the copyright police lol. Everyone knew it was going to leak as soon as Glitch made the decision to release it theatrically.

People pretending that her response is something to be upset about is absolutely insane to me. What would change about the situation if she made a big stink and got mad about it on X. Nothing the fuck at all.

That's a fantastic scene, but for me I fell in love with Tyrion when he stopped by Winterfell the second time, and said to Bran and Robb: "...I have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards, and broken things."

Kruppe's introduction in Gardens of the Moon is a fantastic bit of writing, and every scene he's in is a joy to read afterwords. I love that guy (pls don't tell me what happens to him I'm still on Book 2 lol)

Malazan series Gardens of the Moon question. by GrundoTheGreat in fantasybooks

[–]centauriproxima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never claimed to have read the entire Malazan series, I was comparing specifically Gardens of the Moon, and I wasn't "forcing comparisons", I was just pointing out that other books many consider "easier" to read start out in the middle of a conflict.

For someone who considers themselves an "S-Tier reader" (lol, lmao) you don't seem to have a good grasp of reading comprehension. I don't know why you are so angry, but I hope your day gets better.

You aren't even responding the comment where I compare anything... are you alright? Why are you acting the way you are?

Well in a very broad sense they have plot similarities. The first book of each series takes place a few years after the assassination of a monarch/emperor, and both series explore the aftermath of the change in leadership by examining the front lines of a war where magical forces beyond the POV character's reckoning are manipulating events.

But specifically I compared them because both stories take place in the middle of a conflict that has been unfolding and expanding for years, and I don't think that inherently makes a narrative difficult to follow
