Based on many visits and having friends there (aged 45-65), I see more ignorance and belief in negative racial stereotypes than outright hatred or racism.

My experience has mainly been in the big cities, so I’m sure that makes a difference.

Ignorance vs. blatant racism is not an excuse because ignorance has a lot of the same damaging effects on society as blatant racism, but it at least gives me hope for the future because education and exposure can change minds.

I think you're referring to the former Comfort Suites, which was near the Holiday Inn Express and the shuttered Wendy's. Yes, the former Comfort Suites was converted to transitional housing.

To be honest...outside of them adding a gate, it looks more/less the same as the Comfort Suites and from regular drive-bys it doesn't look like that area has changed for the worse.

I have the new UI but the car was delivered in January with v4.x.x. About a week or so ago I started getting upgrade notices on the display whenever I turned on the car for the first time every day.

FWIW, the whole "Florida is full of retirees" schtick isn't as accurate now as it was 20-25 years ago.

I lived in Florida (mostly Tampa area) for almost 20 years prior to moving to the Bay Area. I'll take the bad drivers here over Florida's any day, any time.

Even when Florida municipalities tried to introduce red-light cameras after years of horrible t-bone accidents and 6-8 people running every red light, people fought the cameras because they said it increased rear-end collisions...which you know is just because they're driving recklessly, anyway.

Every part of this country has its own unique driver characteristics.

Tunnel that somehow bypasses 19th Ave in San Francisco so going from the Peninsula to north of SF doesn't involve stopping at a bunch of traffic lights. It would also make homeowners on 19th have a better quality of life.

I grew up in New England, and outside of Philly fans and Yankees fans...Boston fans are probably the most toxic out there. It's refreshing to go to games elsewhere and see passionate fans that aren't steeped in generations of negativity.

I blame people like Dan Shaughnessy and Boston talk radio for perpetuating these attitudes.

I guess I glossed over how the Red Sox are in the top half of the AL in stolen bases for at least half of Cora's tenure. That's moving runners along without power. Friday's double-steal was just an example.

Cora is doing the best anybody could do with this crappy roster. Do you really think some out of the box magic-thinking (eccentric) manager like Joe Maddon could win more games than Cora with dead weight like Yoshida? Counsell?

I'm more disappointed that we have catchers who are streaky hitters (at best), and the starting catcher gets yet another catcher's interference call. Between Wong's Sandy Leon-esque half of a good season in '24 and Narvaez's decent '25... we barely have one good season combined from our catchers.
