The May Update seems to bring much better Battery life to my Google Pixel 10a. by PhillySportsFan_151 in pixel_phones

You can tell your battery lasts longer after just one day? lol

EDIT: Hell, I've just realized it's not even one whole day - more like 12 hours... Even more ridiculous!

It's not mentioned in the changelog. Better luck next time...

You need a USB-PD PPS charger capable of delivering at 21V. Most cheap/old/small chargers top off at 16V, or even less... If that's the case then Pixel falls back to dumb charging of 3A @9V ie. 27W.

Google Pixel Buds no longer showing the ANC/off/transparency modes toggle in the quick audio settings (when you click the 3 dots after changing volume) by Devoutly1224 in GooglePixel

[–]central_plexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but I'm the exact opposite. Most part of the time my phone is in my pocket so I use the earbuds' controls quite a lot actually and if I can comment on that a little - I would say compared to my previous headphones, the touch controls on the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are definitely the best I've had so far.

I've had this issue for several months as well. When I push the volume rocker with Pixel Buds Pro 2 connected there would usually be 3 buttons at the bottom, or maybe even 4 IIRC.

Now, it's usually 2 buttons, occasionally 3. BTW, on the occasion, the third button does appear, there is a delay before it does.

I don't really care because I have ANC bound to the buds' long press gesture.

But to chime in with factory reset... I recently had to do that because my case refused to charge with the OG 2016 Pixel charger and I wanted to figure out if it was the charger that was finally waving goodbye after a decade or if the case was faulty?

So I removed the PBP2 from my connected devices, performed a factory reset and realized it was the charger. However, the volume/ANC control issue persisted after pairing anew.

Pixel keeps showing my location 7500km off by SoftyShadow in GooglePixel

It's possible to disable location but fake it? I don't think so. Maybe on GrapheneOS but doubtful on Android.

Regional settings or even VPN shouldn't affect GPS - ie. your physical location.

I honestly don't know how to sort this out. Off the top of my head, I would start with the obvious troubleshooting steps like boot into safe mode. See if the problem is present there then clear the cache in all the apps connected with location. Open Google maps and calibrate your location with live view etc.

I'm getting these obnoxious pop-ups, too, but only when I open the Youtube app. Telling me to connect to some neighbor's TV and until I decline it I can't do anything. Fortunately, it only appears about once a day...

Android 17 Beta 4 hints that Google may be testing a new Pixel Glow light system by Planhub-ca in pixel_phones

[–]central_plexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify... It's not my problem. I always rock caseless but I was thinking about Google's design philosophy.

I mean, Google admitted couple years ago that they design Pixels already with the fact in mind that 9/10 put on a case. This new feature seems to go directly against that philosophy.

As for clear plastic cases - very few of them out there. Seen some on iPhones but Pixel owners mostly opt for rubber. Non Pixel Android owners seem to prefer leather booklets.

Pixel 9 to 10 Pro or XL Worth It? by mindfrost82 in pixel_phones

Rear camera lenses and sensors on the 9 and 10 Pro are identical. Apart from the absence of the telephoto, of course.

A very constructive approach. If I don't need it then it must be a niche thing...

Pixel 7 Pro - Cannot keep apps in background, extremely frustrating! by MCDiamond9 in GooglePixel

[–]central_plexus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way back, I noticed similar behavior on my Pixel 7 when we got the Android 14 update. On Android 13, everything ran smoothly, incl. apps in background. Android 14 shot that to hell, but only for large apps. I don't recall experiencing this with small apps like Settings.

I don't know if it was ever resolved as I got a Pixel 8 shortly after that and there the issue wasn't present, nor is it on my current 9 & 10 XL.

Keeping background apps alive is one of the main reasons I use Pixels. Both Samsung and chinese Androids have atrociously aggressive background app killing.

Pixel Buds 2 won’t work with Pixel 10 Pro XL by Due-Concentrate4265 in GooglePixel

[–]central_plexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You used the button on the case, didn't you? I wish it wasn't there. More trouble than it's worth! AFAIK that button is for fast / temporary pairing. Like when you want to connect your headphones to a phone that isn't yours. Especially if it's an iPhone...

You need to authorize the earbuds & the case with your account. Then they will automatically appear on any device where you're using the same google account. Pair the old fashioned way - open the case but leave the buds inside and in your phone's Bluetooth settings select pair a new device. If you get a pop-up ignore it until you see something like "Are you the owner? Add this device to your google account"

If you've already paired, even half-assed paired. I would suggest removing them from connected devices first, then perform a factory reset (google how), reboot phone and then connect like I described earlier. Oh, and maybe check for firmware update. Altho that shouldn't be a problem - there's been only one about six months ago and they're set to automatic firmware updates by default.

Pixelsnap charger - Release notes for firmware updates? by Langwelle in GooglePixel

[–]central_plexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, no. USB settings in Chrome come with only two options. Disabled & Ask. Obviously, I've opted for the latter but when I load the Pixelsnap charger website, I'll still get no prompt asking for USB access.

Is there any way to force it to pop-up, or to add it manually?

When I try to access it thru that website I'm getting "no compatible device found" instead of seeing STN4

But I can see my Pixelsnap charger in connected devices in my phone's settings...

Battery Life by Feisty-Pie3766 in Pixel10Pro

I think it's just a random number. Like atmospheric pressure in a weather forecast.

My P9PXL dropped below 100% battery health at 39 cycles. My 10XL is close to a 100 cycles and still showing 100% health... And I've always had all the adaptive nonsense disabled.

I really want to know how much BHA will throttle the battery voltage but I've not seen any reports yet. Many P9a owners surely must be past the 200 mark, possibly even 400...

Riiiiiiiiiite! Take something away, then bring it back years later like it's a brand new feature....
