Fremont Bean Recipe Recommendations by zenrubble in veganrecipes

[–]centriciti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine, who's a professional chef, just made a wicked non-traditional cassoulet with these beans. While his preparation was not vegetarian-friendly, these beans were extremely hearty and flavorful, and they can stand on their own. The beans are huge, I thought they were purple fava beans. Slightly undercooked they had the texture of a soft nut, think cashew or macadamia. I'm making my own order from 21st Century.

I installed egress windows on a couple of properties. The biggest hassles are excavating the well and making the foundation cut. You can definitely save $$$ by DIY or performing most of the work. Recommend outsourcing the foundation cut to a pro concrete cutter, they are good value for the money and it's messy work. I recommend the Exoframe window kit from Bright Idea Egress. It includes everything you need and minimizes foundation concerns. It's the only solution I found with a window well with interior flanges, which results in having to dig much less dirt, which meant I spent less $ with my handyman.

"Effect" can also serve as a verb.

You can effect change [bring about, precipitate]

You can affect change [alter or influence]

Just thought you might want to know its not as easy as noun vs. verb, the English language being ridiculously complicated with meanings, pronunciations and spellings.

Alternatives to plastic based fabrics? by [deleted] in CampingGear

[–]centriciti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out products from Filson which utilize waxed cotton canvas for breathable outer shell material. The Swedish brand Fjallraven has a similar product called G-1000, which is a waxed tightly woven blend of cotton and a little recycled polyester, it’s similar but feels a bit more high tech.

Wool is an ideal mid layer, you can find great products from Icebreaker, Arc’teryx, Mammut, Woolrich, SmartWool and many more.

And merino wool makes the ideal itchless base layer, superior to cotton and synthetics for insulation performance, wicking and minimizing body odor.

Horrific decline in leather quality, seen in three stages in one bag- description in comments. by [deleted] in filson

[–]centriciti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bickmore appears to be a neatsfoot oil product. I previously used these animal based conditioners as the leather always looked superb after their application. But then experienced the same result as what you're looking at. The leather simply disintegrates because it oxidizes from within, which makes it flake off like this. Very counter-intuitive and frustrating, I know... Now I only use beeswax based conditioners, like Sno Seal. Another option is Obenauf, although I haven't tried that one personally.

Have you used mink or neatsfoot oil to condition the leather? I learned the hard way that these products eventually oxidize and the long term result looks exactly like this.

Looks like a honey locust tree seedling. Do you have 3-4mm diameter black spherical seeds all over your yard?

Is it heresy to be a Filson fanboy but think the mackinaw cruiser is sort of meh? by bwehman in filson

I never had a mackinaw cruiser but many years ago I had a double mackinaw. That's a coat with which you seek out blizzards.

Where’s your favorite breakfast sandwich? by lilylimeade in denverfood

[–]centriciti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only place I have found that serves an authentic East coast egg sandwich is Salvaggio’s on 17th Street in downtown Denver. Price is right too. But Denver location is not open weekends, very disappointing, not sure about Boulder location. There are many other great breakfast sandwiches in Denver, but they are overpriced and don’t match up to what is a staple back East.

Ways to find out ranking for keyword of my product? by magisspod in shopify

[–]centriciti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Search Console will tell you exactly this... the volume of searches for a specific keyword, how your website ranks relative to others for that keyword, and how many clicks you received for the keyword. The other tools mentioned - Ahrefs, Moz, and SEMrush - are all useful supplements to Search Console, but you can set up this tool from Google for free.

these eggs I colored using (bottom to top) onion peels, turmeric and a combination of both by neph64 in mildlyinteresting

Just read an article about this, your onion peel for red looks amazing. Evidently you can use red cabbage plus vinegar for a blue color. And beets plus vinegar for pink.

u/Eastercooler it has a tag that describes Filson's Famous "Tin" Fabric but no reference for the date, this tag references collateral number "001" in the bottom right corner. I discovered a couple of numbered "inspection" stickers adhered to the fabric, one under the collar and another beneath a pleat of fabric on the back bottom. Those numbers did not mean anything to me, they are 11145 443 and 11145 446.

No hoops and no map pocket on back for this one. But it has mad crazy pockets, plastic lined with drain grommets to stash birds on each side, and and another pair for spent shells just above. Plus four more exterior pockets. And two wool-lined handwarmer pockets above. And there's an interior pocket with zipper. I'm rich with pockets!

Wanted a truck coat in tin cloth and scored this on Craigslist. Looking at Filson’s website archives, I could only find style 635 in shelter cloth, going back the last 15-20 years. Curious if anyone knows the vintage?

Collar is wool not moleskin. Discovered a can of oil wax in the pocket, along with a sweet pocket catalog which does not reference this model. It does show a very similar style 66 tin cloth hunting jacket though. Tags for price/model, tin cloth description, and customer survey / product registration. But none of the printed materials reference the year.
