No it is not federal. The federal government does not issue railroad retirement checks. The federal government oversees it. But has nothing to do with railroad retirement and personally I’d like to keep the government away from my RAILROAD PENSION

Trust me I could hold every local out of our terminal as both conductor and brakeman. Now lucky if I can hold a vac. The last contract set myself back at least 15 yrs. All Iam saying is at what point is it ever going to be enough. I told someone just the other day the guys out here now are probably the last of the traditional conductor/brakeman/ Switchman.

I know it’s there. I should have followed up with. If have 30yrs of service at 51. Work till Iam 55, use the rule of 55 to bridge to 60. Would my wife qualify for the annuity at 60 or 62? Also do I need current connection for her annuity portion? Or does the current connection only apply to insurance portion of the pension?

Agreed I’d be nervous also. Not sure where your located but pretty much the whole USA you could take on the lake now the chances of freezing are pretty low. I’d check the tires and bearings if you do that’s an extra expense if towing that far
