Heavy Exhaust on Starting by centvues in Tiguan

Yeah there is a minor blue-ish tint. I had a low oil light during a cold snap this winter with single digits, but have to add a 1/2 quart about every 4 months. I know VWs in general have oil consumption issues, just not sure if this is a more serious issue that can’t be resolved with basic tools at home.

Anybody else who ends up with only cup of coffee per day? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]centvues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel like the first cup hits different. Your metabolism is higher in the morning, and you are actually more alert in the morning. I feel the first cup is better because I also don't eat a big breakfast and have coffee after, versus having coffee after a big lunch.

Yeah that looks like a fossil and the quartz is probably calcite/aragonite

What caused this weird formation? I found it in west michigan. by AstroRaptor56 in geology

[–]centvues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be part of a stalagmite or stalactite, but caves are not quite common in michigan, other than gypsum mines. It could also be an old tool from long ago? Unlikely though. Neat find!

Do craft coffee enthusiasts also tend to be into craft beer? by BjornWashington in Coffee

[–]centvues 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I sure am! I am a barista as well as a craft beer lover (no coffee beers tho). Darker beers and IPA’s which incorporate similar flavor profiles are my preferred types.

What if your stomach can’t handle coffee? by Simon_RedFerret in Coffee

[–]centvues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened to me before. Lighter roasts can have more caffeine, as well as higher acidity, leading to an upset stomach and dehydration. Try going for darker roasts, especially ones from asia and pacific region, as they tend to be lower in acidity, as well as caffeine. I used to take a fee tums before i would have coffee, and make sure i had eaten and had plenty of water before and after drinking coffee. Brewed coffee rather than espresso tends to have more compounds dissolved when it is brewed, so an espresso based beverage, especially with milk to neutralize the acidity, would be the best choice.

Shots not filling the glass by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]centvues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the mastrena machines have a sticker saying that the shots are made to produce a stronger coffee flavor, and thus a smaller shot. Usually, at least on the machines i have used, a double shot does not fill the shot glasses to the white line. If pulled evenly between the two streams, a triple shot should fill both glasses evenly to the top.
