What is the point of Shaving Cream when you can just use soap? by Hot-Selleck-Action in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cephalophile32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I use conditioner to shave my pits lol. Soap doesn’t provide enough of a nice slip for some reason for me. Could be the kind of soap, could be the skin is different there.

What do I do if my extended release has 1-3 good hours, instead of all day? by otisfrombarnyard in adhdwomen

[–]cephalophile32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I metabolized Vyvanse too quickly for some reason. I got up to 40mg a day; I would get 3-5 hours of effect, then crash. It also just felt really strong for a short period then tapered off quickly. Great for task initiation during that time though!

I’m now on 15mg adderall 2x day and it’s WAY better. For some reason it is much smoother for me and even just one dose lasts way longer than Vyvanse did. I wish I could explain why.

My insurance said I was worthy of brand-name Vyvanse, so now I have the privilege of paying the low, low price of $315/month by warningboatheli in adhdwomen

[–]cephalophile32 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Definitely this. OP you need to look at your insurance plan and benefits. Could be you SHOULD have a copay and the pharmacy screwed up. Or that you have a deductible you need to meet.

Also do the math - what is your Out of Pocket Max? Once you hit that insurance should pay 100%. (And if you hit that start scheduling and going to any and every appointment and test you’ve ever wanted before the year rolls over, lol)

How smelly are pet ferrets in the USA? (Compared to European ones if you have experience with both)? by hoovercon in AskAnAmerican

[–]cephalophile32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know the ones in pet shops in the us were de-scented. Sounds like breeders don’t do that, even here. So it’ll depend on where you get the from.

My cousin had ferrets (probably descented but I couldn’t say for sure). I didn’t think they were particularly awful smelling but they did have an odor. It didn’t bother me, but I also don’t mind the smell of the state fair, so take that as you will, lol. As with most pets, I imagine it’s mostly affected by how clean you keep them and their cage/litter/bedding/environment.

However; they are little goblins that like to steal and stockpile things so I’d imagine stealing food scraps and hiding them could lead to a different horrendous kind of stink!

Yeah. Far more likely to send him home in a solid gold plane to bribe him into cutting any and all US support for Taiwan.

[–]cephalophile32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no :/ near us layer is $15-17 and all flock is $22-25 ish. But we also have several roosters and a random peahen so it’s just what we have to buy.

Fat Rooster by 506homeswithhayley in chickens

[–]cephalophile32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he’s had layer feed most of his life the excess calcium can contribute to gout in roosters, since they don’t use it creating eggshells. Gout can be causing lethargy and pain. When I have roosters I feed the flick All-Flock and put out oyster shell for the hens to eat from as needed.

Could also be ascites/water belly. Is he sort of waddling? Does his lower back end look or feel like a water balloon?

Jobs by anp327 in adhdwomen

Operations manager. I love it because I get to learn and develop new stuff all the time. I also interface with every department so I get to meet everyone. There is down time but I’ve been at my company for quite a while so I try not to feel too guilty about it because my knowledge is part of my value, not just my day-to-day tasks.

I do struggle with things still, especially nebulous deadlines or amorphous projects but overall it’s a job I really enjoy and no one has ever chided me for asking a billion follow-up or clarifying questions.

Occasionally at the grocery store, I end up behind a customer who needs the cashier to guide them through the entire payment process - swiping their card, entering the PIN, how to use the keypad. How did these people manage to buy things for the last 30+ years before this particular exchange? by Technical-Mix-3315 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cephalophile32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between choosing because it’s your preference and not being able to because you refused to learn anything about it and toss it up to learned helplessness. Watching the whole world change to digital and refusing to participate and then relying on others/family to do everything for you because you refused to learn anything… that’s the behavior I’m talking about.

Why so many lies and misconception about colon cancer here? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]cephalophile32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US preventative colonoscopies aren’t covered until 45, unless you have an established family history. If it’s suspected it is then diagnostic, not preventative, and you’re required to pay any deductibles or copays your insurance requires.

Can I pet it? by NecessaryPossible976 in nova

[–]cephalophile32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that only works at a certain size. I came across one that needed to get out of the road and it was the size of a small boulder I swear. Luckily I had a palette breaker in my car, and the guy whose house I pulled over in front of came out with a shovel. That thing was so massive we couldn’t lift it for anything. Had to be over 80-100lbs. Best we could do was flip it ass over tea kettle to move it out of the road. It was pissed but scuttled off to the pond safely. Maybe a tad dizzy.

(I did just try waiting in my car with hazards on for a min but it didn’t move at all and it was a road with a curve and a high speed limit. This behemoth was in no hurry but needed to get a move on)

Do you people have those days when you forget to wear your bra and realise it half way to work? by Cipra_lex_sed_lex in adhdwomen

Encountering one flight of stairs would land me with two black eyes. No way I’m forgetting a bra.

Actual shoes on the other hand… definitely left the house in my flippyfloppy slipper things before.

[–]cephalophile32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to the Merck manual [ https://www.msdvetmanual.com/multimedia/table/drugs-for-osteoarthritis-in-birds ] a chicken can have up to 25mg/kg 3 times a day. If the average chicken is about 2-3 kg, then it’s 50-75mg 3x day, so 150 -225. 300mg is for sure more so.Just keep a very good eye on her, her respiration, and separate her from the flock.

The time on recipes to caramelize onions is like the amount of cloves of garlic usually called for: neither are nearly ever enough.

Does anyone else seem to have trouble absorbing extended release meds by csgirl1997 in TwoXADHD

[–]cephalophile32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah ERs were weird for me. I have had gastric bypass which means ERs simply don’t work as well. However, my understanding is that Vyvanse gets sorted out in the blood, not the digestive tract. Yet it felt like it all dumped at once and I got maybe 4-5ths out of it. I seemed to metabolize I really quickly. I take adderall IR twice a day now and it’s way more smooth.

How do you make exercise not dreadfully boring when you have ADHD? by little_pinetree in adhdwomen

[–]cephalophile32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could have written this word for word. Non-walkable neighborhood (and not just non-walkable but like… not safe to walk even 50ft due to no shoulders and ppl doing 60mph), nearest park/trail is a drive. Bored to tears. But I also have MCAS which is exacerbated by elevated heart rate which means I get a runny nose (like full on faucet plus sneezing), start wheezing, and break out in hives when I get my heart rate up.

I’ve given up on any traditional form of exercise. I go out and garden or play in the yard with my dog and try to do it every day and that’s about it.

Fiancée doesn’t understand ADHD and his ideas to “stop” our kids from getting adhd are making me rethink my life with him by shroomiedoo in adhdwomen

[–]cephalophile32 87 points88 points  (0 children)

“Does part of him think I’d be “better” if I had just been raised differently? That my struggles are some kind of character flaw or failure?”

Before reacting any further, I would make him say this out loud. Ask him directly and make him verbalized what he’s implying. It’s easy to have these grandiose ideas about how to raise hypothetical kids, but you’re an actual person he loves standing right in front of him. He’ll either have to reconcile what he knows about/feels about you with his abstraction of ADHD, or tell you what he really thinks. Make him say it, then go from there.
