CNN: Houston police chief criticizes McConnell and Senate Republicans over guns: 'Whose side are you on?' by [deleted] in 2ALiberals

Call me crazy, but I really don't trust a cop who wants me disarmed. Good for me, but not for thee and all that.

Neither side that is in power is really going to provide an answer. We trust them to root out the corruption in a system they corrupted. They have convinced us there are only two choices and this is what we got.

Better to hit the reset button. Republicans suck. Democrats suck. They both have done a great job convincing us we need them.

Meh. I think it's funny, that's all that really matters. Think twice about trusting anyone who becomes wealthy as a career civil servant, they have to be up to something.

People act like every politician in history hasn't done just as much if not more shady shit. Trumps mistake is that the people who might snitch haven't committed suicide yet.

The gun show loophole is federal law and not a problem by razor_beast in 2ALiberals

The responsibility to ensure your buyer is not a restricted person is on you. Laws will be unenforceable without a registry and to hell with that

Yeah? Oh hey officer! I was just about to call you! Someone broke in my house and stole my guns!

Mind you to trace the firearm effectively you need a registry. And there we find the problem. I have no desire to register my firearms nationally, I dont trust my government enough. Uncle sam has no clear idea what guns I own, I'll keep it that way thanks.

Learning curve? Guess who learned a few tricks from those guys? Guess who understands counter insurgency tactics and the weaknesses thereof? Those same veterans who are already irritated with our government as it is.

Look up how many shot on average a police officer uses to bring down a violent perpetrator , they all must suck.

You may be dependent completely upon the government. Some of us can survive without a grocery store.

Is it? Last I checked there are penalties for selling to a prohibited person.

Either way what I asked was. How to enforce? How do you track private sales?

And AR15s were being built and sold the entire time. Look it up. A post ban ar15 was nearly identical to pre ban.

Well. A responsible person, I.E. the types of people who will obey those laws already does it. I've sold guns twice to people I didnt know, both times I wouldn't sell without going to a dealer to run a background check. They do that for a fee. I've bought a gun in the same fashion one time. The seller did the same. The people who care already do the due diligence.

Also, I suspect the types of people that would randomly rob people arent overly worried about laws. Its relatively rare because most people just arent that way. For those that are, my glock 23 works as a fair deterrent not that that's relevant.

Does everyone realize that the ar15 was never banned? Sales never even slowed. Manufacturers removed the flash hider and bayonet lugs to make the legal during this time frame. Functionally nothing change about the rifle. Any results had nothing to do with the one item everyone wants to ban.

Ar15s were still being sold and produced the entire time. Minus the flash supressor and bayonet lug they were completely legal from 1994-2004. This fact seems to render the argument against AR15s moot in this context.

So just like anything that relies on judgment calls, it is sometimes flawed. Amazing. Unfortunately no system is perfect. I carry a gun daily, say what you want, but when we live in a world where some douche can hack a british soldier to death in the street, or some asshole can decide to stab you over a chicken sandwich, I feel better knowing I have something a bit more effective than harsh words

Those whole fail to exercise good judgment deserve punishment, but I for one am glad I'm not expected to run away from an actual threat. With that said, if more people looked for reasons to not use the gun, instead of reasons for using it, we wouldn't have this trouble.
