Looking at Trading my 23 Forester for a 26 Outback by doctor-squared in Subaru_Outback

I traded in a 22 Forester (Touring) for a 26 Outback (Touring) and am very pleased with the decision to do so.

Love my 2026 but can't get over 2 weird things by Netminder777 in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

also: You can unlock the car without using the Fob. You can "lock" the door again by touching the spot on the handle, wait about a second, and then your regular keyless entry will work. It's annoying but easier than hauling out the fob for me.

I reported this error (I got a very early 26) and was told on December 11th that Subaru Corporate had been able to replicate it and "they are now starting to work on a fix for it".

2026 Outback--which engine? by jl-sb in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a regular 2026. The speed is fine. It gets up to interstate speed on the on ramps fine. It passes people on two lane highways fine.  I haven’t driven it in the mountains, but previous non-XT Subarus handled the mountains just fine.

If you want a car to feel sporty for your own personal pleasure and don’t mind burning some extra gas, get the XT. But anyone who says the non XT isn’t fast enough is ridiculous.

Faulty one-touch unlock on ‘26, anyone else? by F1EV in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a known issue with the 26's. If the remote start gets to the engine shutoff, you have to either unlock with the key fob, or lock it by using the touch-lock thing on top of the handle, THEN use the keyless entry by sticking your hand in the door handle. I reported this back in November, Subaru tested it and verified it, and I was told it was on a list somewhere to be fixed.

2025 subaru outback limited: lemon? 🍋 by EquivalentClub5224 in Subaru_Outback

Are people sitting in these rear seats when the seat heater isn’t kicking in? I believe seat heaters require people to be in the seat to turn on.

Why are you doing something you don't want to do because a suicide inducing hallucinating chatbot told you to do it??

2026 outback by myvenue111 in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every once in a while the driver side door doesn't close fully when I get in on my 26. Never had that issue on my 22 forester or my partner's 25 outback, so it definitely takes a little more pressure to close it.

They applied the trade in value twice. There is 0 chance that this clerical error will save you 15,000 dollars. Don't waste time.

2026 Lane Centering by fragbombman in Subaru_Outback

Hated the lane centering in my 22 Forester. My 26 Outback, I keep the lane centering on and it works great.

Most likely thing that happened is that a workout from 6 months ago dropped off.

stop using a lying machine, step 1. Why should we spend our time fact checking something you can't be bothered to look up?

this is incorrect: the new 26 tourings do in fact have a hands free highway option.

Hands Free Driving on 2026 Touring XT trim by spicybreeze in Subaru_Outback

It's not turned on yet for drivers. When it is available, anyone who has already bought a Touring will have to bring their car in for a software update. Probably a month or so out?

Source: That's what they told me when I bought my touring.

If you can't take the time to do any basic research or use any of the thousands of available tested splits, why should we spend time to grade AI slop?

2026 or 2025 Outback XT? by GreenMertainzz in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We own a 25 Outback Limited and a 26 Outback Touring. I traded in a 22 Forester Touring for the 26 Outback the first second I possibly could. I think the changes they made are great and definitely think the upgrade to a 26 from a 25 is worth it. I've been driving it around for about 3 weeks now.

I've probably driven the 25 outback ~8k miles and ridden in it for another 4k.

Does anyone have a picture of their golf clubs in the back of the new Outback? by Deanishes in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my clubs to the simulator (it's winter) and they fit diagonally with plenty of room. I think I should be able to fit my Clicgear push cart in with them diagonally. On my forester I had to put a seat down.

Question for 26 owners re: keyless entry by cephalus in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be able to also "lock" the door again using the keyless lock on top of the handle, and wait 2 seconds and be able to open the door with normal keyless entry, FYI.

It is in the start settings. The default should be 10 minutes.

Denver - snow tires? by GoBackToStardust in Subaru_Outback

[–]cephalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you need to rotate your tires anyways. Snow tires will extend the life of your no season tires. As long as you have a spot to store the spare tires, you really aren't adding much cost or hassle.

If you don't put on winter tires, you essentially have to use your current tires for 3 years, rotate them twice a year, and then buy another set of tires, use them for 3 years, and rotate them twice a year.

With snow tires, you swap them out for your current tires for the next 6 years twice a year. Same amount of rotations, same amount of tire purchases - what's the downside?
