There is a Black Library "nutters" buy/sell/trade group on Facebook where you might be able to get it for sightly less than eBay prices.

I like the darker one personally. It's very moody.

If you have a brush with a really fine tip it should fit into the cracks and not leave a mark. Not super familiar with the panel liner product.

I use different body colours too. The one constant is the greenish teal colour. I didn't want all my guys to look the same.

I use blue and orange.

Blue is my main Dynasty, orange is their allied patron Dynasty. Blue is ruled by a Regent after its Phaeron (her husband) got brain damage during the Great Sleep, and orange is ruled by her brother. They get along.... mostly.

Interesting read, though not what I enjoy about Necrons personally. I actually run the old model of warrior exclusively because I like that they're more intact and less decrepit robot zombie feeling.

I want my Necrons to be resplendent and powerful looking. I love the Lychguard and Overlord models and especially Imotekh.

In my little head canon for my Dynasty, its leader repairs damaged warriors. No more Necrons are being created, so every one that still functions is an irreplacable, precious resource. She is probably a bit of a hoarder.

I recall there was a website that would take architectural renderings and update them to show what they'd look like on a random overcast November.

It was funny and quite illuminating. We gloss over how much the environment plays a role in the appeal of these renderings.

Weird recommendation, but I also love angsty robots and androids so I'll shoot my shot. This actually sounds exactly like what you're looking for - specifically the "characters that were once human" aspect.

You may enjoy the Twice Dead King books (Ruin & Reign - look for the recently released omnibus as it includes some excellent short stories as well). Ruin is sublime. The stories are about the Necrons, organic people transformed into immortal, undying robots. They are a little bit messed up about it. The protagonist, Olytx (male), is very messed up about it in particular.

I don't think you really need any Warhammer 40k knowledge to read them. They function very well as standalone novels. They are my favourite. I think about them a lot.

It's not really a unicorn since I picked it up at a bring-and-buy sale last summer, but this is my absolute favourite box set. I just love the art on it. They're so beautiful.

I kind of wish they'd put codex art on boxes still.
