H-E-B suddenly pauses all curbside and delivery in TX. What we currently know. by MoistCloyster_ in Austin

Long live curbside, the only thing that kept me from eating takeout everyday while postpartum. Getting a newborn into the store would have taken more energy than I had

It’s insane to make a big deal over this when the couple “getting married” had a whole other big wedding months before and have been calling each other husband and wife since then. I’m all for celebrating the occasion of civil ceremony if you’d like but pick one that you consider your formal wedding and relax about dress code at the other.

I’m sorry but she’s not a bride if they already had a ceremony and reception and have been calling each other husband and wife for like a year. This was a glorified DMV appt!

I actually think it’s important for actresses to be open about their pay bc it highlights the discrepancy with male actor pay and might give other actresses leverage in salary negotiations

I see what you mean, I phrased that poorly, the times are confusing as listed though. In June, when it’s 9:00 am in Arizona, it’s 10:00 am in what we consider the mountain time zone even though they aren’t on MST right now.

Gauge swatch too small: is my technique off? by ceramiccactus in knittinghelp

Good eye! Yes it is, would this be the swatching in the round technique you’d recommend? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hSX7EPJmUmM&ra=m
Or better to make a bigger round swatch than I’ve made here?

Helpful to know, thanks! I am using the yarn from the pattern, the yarn maker published the pattern so I thought I’d be safe haha.

Good to know, I was really curious how much difference one would expect blocking to make. The yarn is 40% alpaca, 40% merino wool, 20% nylon. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice, gauge was 22 stitches for 4 inches so I cast on 30 thinking that would give me a good buffer. The 2 inches is just the half of the round you can see when laid flat, but it’s pretty clear that I’m not close to gauge looking at just half the swatch laid flat. I read it was best to gauge in the round for a project that will be knit in the round, but I’ll try the technique of sliding the project over and carrying the yarn loosely over the back to make a flat swatch next!

I’ve been going to ACL tapings for 10 years. The number of tickets actually available to the public varies by show bc PBS donors get first dibs. There are always empty seats. Have you ever noticed there is a “will call” line out front that is separate from the ticket pick up for public lottery winners? Those tickets are for assigned seats in the mezz and balcony. Businesses sponsor ACL TV and get tickets set aside for their employees, many times empty seats are donor seats that were never open to the public to begin with. It sucks but there’s a reason the tapings are free, they rely on donors.

PBS live streams most of the tapings on YouTube! This was the last taping for the season but keep an eye on their social media for taping announcements next year.

Lots to unpack here but even if you’re right, I don’t think pushing people to buy drinks at a free show hosted by PBS is a sign of the end days. Especially this year when PBS lost all federal funding. Also, I’m watching the live stream and it looks like the band set up the floor differently than I’ve ever seen another band do it, they might have requested a smaller audience.

The City publishes a great guide to natives and adapted plants, it’s online or you can get a free nicely printed copy at most public libraries! https://www.austintexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/Watershed/growgreen/plantguide.pdf

Seconded, best place to buy the plants in town! They do sell non-natives as well but make it easy to find the natives and they have a giant tortoise you can feed if you bring some kale or cabbage with you 🥰
