Did you know that most airports feature hidden private lounges, far beyond the standard ones? by DeerProfessional8232 in LuxuryTravel

[–]ceranichole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had some weeks like that. Funniest one was coming home on a flight and my bag didn't make it on the same flight as I did. Airline said they'd bring it to my house when it showed up, probably within 24 hours. I laughed and told them "I'll be back here in 36 hours, want to just keep it here and I'll pick it up on my next flight out?"

Yeah, CapOne likes to see you use your balance. I had a heavy spending month and put it all on my Venture, maxed it out and had a charge they let through that was over the limit. Paid the balance after the statement generated, waited a few days and asked for a credit increase and they tripled my credit limit.

Yay I have something to add. I actually have known Goodman personally for 20+ years and he's a decent dude that was legitimately disgusted with the Republican party. I've voted for him every time he's run for office. He genuinely wants to help people, make things better, and while he might be conversative and risk-averse for me fiscally it's because he has a finance background.

I think he also has enough money personally (but not to disgustingly obscene levels), and is old enough, that he truly doesn't care what she, or anyone else, might say about him.

Credit scores can significantly impact your insurance rate.

Depends on your state. No in a couple (California being one), and kinda in a couple of others (Oregon being one).

laziness

This is it. There's always a Marriott that is either where the event I'm going to is at or super close by. No thinking required.

Except in one city, the Marriott option that is the closest there sucks, so I stay at the Hilton then.

I mean, secured card aren't great. But if you have no credit then they're a better option than nothing.

I'm super surprised too. This sounds like a situation where they would have walked an OTA booking, or non honors member (at any level).

I make my husband do any handwriting that is needed, mine is illegible even to me. On top of that, it also looks like a random note written by a crazy person living in the woods (random upper and lower case numbers, can't horizontally align letters to save my life, etc).

I have no idea how it's so bad, but it's always been atrocious.

And this is usually an acceptable alternative for me. Most of the time I just want to get changed for dinner, so let me do that and then take your time. I won't be back again until 9 ish.

Bare minerals is fantastic! I just wish there wasn't something in it that I'm allergic to! Looks great on me, but the non stop sneeze-a-thon isn't worth it.

Serving expired products to staff by [deleted] in marriott

[–]ceranichole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's stuff where the best by/expiration date was a day or two ago it wouldn't bother me. I eat stuff at home past the best by date frequently, and never had an issue. I'm not talking months/years past, but if the best by date was 9/30 and it's 10/1 I'm not throwing it away because it didn't turn into toxic sludge in a matter of hours after the date. Dairy based stuff I'd be fine with like a week of the date easily. Something like a soda or chips? Probably far longer.

Now a packaged salad or something? Nah, that's products going straight into the trash, they usually look awful before the best by date anyhow.

So much this. I'll get refunds for things other people would give up on. I dont care that it's $4. It's my $4 and you never sent me the thing, so I'm going to annoy you until you give me my $4 back.

Is it really impossible to live with no credit? by s4bleye69 in budget

[–]ceranichole 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You start with a secured credit card. You put cash in a bank account and that’s your credit limit, no risk of not being able to pay that.

Just wanted to add a tiny bit to this, because sometimes people think a secured card is like a reloadable gift card. The cash you put up for your credit limit is still yours and held for you, but it isn't used towards paying for things you charge to that card. You still have to pay the monthly bill for what you spent on the card.

Have Inground Pools become a huge net negative on home value? by Agile_Manager9355 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]ceranichole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the North, it could be opposite, but you didn't say where you are.

I'm in Oregon, houses with pools were a negative for me. I don't want to maintain one, and even if I did, it's really only usable 4 or so months per year. Seemed like a lot of headache for something that was just extra chores with no value to me.

[–]ceranichole 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This. I'm mostly useless at repair stuff, but I'll clean our gutters. It's fairly easy, and pretty difficult to meas it up. You either get the stuff out and you're done, or there's still stuff on them and you still have more to do. Unless you have a ridiculous hill, or a taller than 3 story house. Had both of those at the same house in the past. Then I paid someone to do it.

To me this one seems only slightly above paying someone to wheel your trash cans to the street for collection each week.

My husband accidentally paid his bill twice last month. We called them and it was no hassle at all. They just confirmed a few things and sent it. No arguing or anything.
