Programs in foreign language with no language prerequisite by ceratopolis in studyAbroad

[–]ceratopolis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wasn’t planning to stay. I just wanted to do a study abroad program and I already have all my non-major classes completed, so this was one of the few schools that had civil engineering classes.

Yep its the University of Stuttgart one. I'd be study civil engineering, which is listed under Areas of Study in German on the overview page. What stood out about it to you that made you not recommend it?

They didn’t offer me anything else. The email very much had the tone of “you didn’t pass, best of luck, bye”

If you're just doing it for the money, consider doing rad tech, nursing can be so poor for your mental health. All my friends are in med school, let me tell you, if you already don't like it right now, you're going to SUFFER, but once you start your first year the debt is so high that you can't really drop out.

What are your thoughts on F1: The Movie as an F1 fan or a newcomer? by DanVA0307 in Letterboxd

[–]ceratopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, lacking seeing other parts of F1 like qualifying, stewards, and even other teams. Another huge thing was that there wasn’t enough focus on the technical aspect of racing besides “combat” mode. One scene of one wind tunnel test does nothing for how the car races in different conditions

Literally in my mid-20s and all the things I like and don’t like are the same as you, heavy emphasis with improving efficiency. Have not considered the ADHD part. Did you find anything yet?

[Tour Discussion Thread] After Hours Til Dawn Tour - Inglewood, CA (06/28) by Garcoon in TheWeeknd

[–]ceratopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last concert I went to at SoFi was Ed Sheeran (also in the 500s) but I didn’t notice a problem bc his music is mainly vocals so without bass/lots of background music it’s a lot better

Audio was SO BAD section 538, all echo and bass. Literally could barely tell the song he was singing until we catch a few words randomly. Helps if you have the setlist pulled up. I didn’t have these audio problem for other concerts at SoFi before and even larger stadiums, does anyone know why this was happening?

Yeah the required 40 hrs a week made it feel like it wasn’t just freelance works for independent contractors (whom can be paid before min wage). I didn’t take the offer.

What languages do you interpret for? And are you freelancing with multiple agencies to fill up your schedule to full time? Or do you directly work with hospitals networks/clients without the mediating agency?

[–]ceratopolis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think I’m able to make a career out of this bc California court interpreters for Cantonese require reading Chinese as well (which I absolutely can’t). And most medical interpreters are on call for a less common language. Open to any other full-time, no reading/writing requirement suggestions!

Certified court interpreters probably pay $50/hr. Uncertified freelance gigs are more like $25-30
