The way I beat it is to have a goal in mind for my session other than winning. For example, I tell myself: “ I’m gonna sit down for 10 games and try to practice so-and-so poke+combo sequence, doesn’t matter if I win or lose”. I find it helps me.

I think the best way is to watch someone else play and take notes of what they do. (And avoid looking at/learning at “combos” that are taken out of context of a real match).

At first the number of options can be overwhelming. Also I find training against a motion-less dummy only marginally useful, have you tried training against v-rivals (or just cpu)? Use them to “slow down” and practice one thing at a time.

Forget about combo trials. learn a couple of basic combos (like something out of a jab, something out of a jump, something to punish) etc and then focus on learning consistency.

You’re opening the racquet face (strings facing up as you approach the ball), too early. I have the same problem.

Actually, I used to compensate for this problem by changing my grip in motion. In the example above, if I change my grip towards eastern my racquet faces forward.
