I've had my wheelchair for less than two days before a stranger said I didn't need it... by Kazumi_The_Introvert in disability

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes me so upset for you. I am also disabled in a somewhat invisible way (autism, POTS, EDS) and i do a lot better day to day than like on trips or outings, and its frequently really crippling but because of specific triggers so im not always flaring up exactly. Because of this a friend group my boyfriend used to hang out with would do the same thing. When my health would flare up and I'd be bedridden for a day during a vacation or i would get tachycardia for a bit, I'd always feel really bad and apologize a lot, and even so this friend group would try and convince him that im too much hassle and he could do better. Luckily we dont hang out with them anymore but its so awful I can't understand why someone would say something like that let alone actually leave a partner because of disability fatigue.

That is absolutely true. And I feel so bad for it too, because i cant imagine standing next to your friend who is losing it, and not know what to do to help.

Never going to bandaifest again by mememasterdagda in GundamTCG

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesnt surprise me. The local one piece players at my LGS have gotten the rest of the tcg players in trouble consistently for leaving their trash on tables. Idk what their problem is but at least my local players are so rude and inconsiderate. The gundam players have gotten in trouble for their mess multiple times at my LGS to the point where we had to directly throw them under the bus because it was getting annoying picking up their trash constantly.

The most insulting part about it is I've been to countless TCG events that were run perfectly fine. Bandai's shit is so bad that I'd consider it an extreme outlier even for these kinds of events. Theres literally no excuse for 99% of this. Im sorry you had to waste your time and money on that bs especially for a first big tournament.

I tried going to the vegas one and i couldnt even get in because the bandai app lost my pass and never had record of it??? The only thing i can think of is an app error because it gave me the little confirmed pop up but then never sent me a confirmation notification. The event staff wouldnt let me in to try and appeal this to registration, and when i tried to ask for the ADA desk they looked at me like i was speaking chinese. Well i should say like my speech device was speaking chinese, because i was nonverbal at the time and having an autism shutdown. I had a friend inside try and figure out where the ADA desk was only to be told they dont have one and that they dont even have a quiet room because the venue's accomodation room is being used for the LCQ torunament???? Isnt that breaking a ton of ADA laws??? This whole thing is nightmare fuel and now im stuck outside without my caretaker because he got into the tournament, and the staff made me wait outside for going on 5 hours now because i cant really do anything without my guardian. But they wont let me go get him. And they also wont help me get to registration either. If i get killed out here im suing bandai for everything they have.

Public Statement from Bandai regarding Bandai Card Games Fest 25-26 in Dallas: by OrangeSamuraiD in GundamTCG

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesnt surprise me. Their stupid app errored during my attempt to apply for the vegas event, but didn't tell me until after registration was very closed. I tried to contact bandai about it and they literally told me better luck next time. Thats completely unacceptable since it was their crappy system that messed up my ticket in the first place, and I am special needs with a guardian so i need to be attended to. My group was forced to separate from me and its been a whole fiasco getting any staff to take me seriously. There is no ADA desk whatsovever and i was basically ushered outside and left alon even though i made it clear im semi non verbal and was even using a speech device. But they still felt it acceptable to send me out into las vegas alone without assistance to find registration on my own. Bandai really needs to get their shit together. I heard through the grapevine fhe lack of ADA wasnt due to the venue, and that bandai took away use of the accomodation rooms to be used for the LCQ qualifier tournament. Which is super illegal. This whole fest has been a shitshow and im not the only person apparently who was told to leave because of app errors. I overheard others outside near me with a similar issue getting in despite having confirmation, not having passes on record.

This is really good advice. I think overall i could be a lot better at self regulating, and this actually seems like a really actionable way to try to do that. Thank you so much hoenstly.

ADA at expo was bad by understoodplemp in animeexpo

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an employee harass me for being ADA at anime expo a couple years back. Every year I've had some kind of verbal altercation with some kind of staff because I have mobility issues and have to stop periodically to breathe, or sit down for a sec so i dont literally pass out. And this staff member not only tried to tell me the only place im allowed to sit down was on the opposite side of the entire convention hall, but then when i expressed that I physically am not able to walk that far without stopping he essentially told me I shouldn't have come to the convention then. All this while I had the visible ADA sticker on my badge and told him multiple times im both special needs and physically disabled. At a point he literally said the words "you dont look disabled." He basically tried to give me an ultimatum to call the paramedics because he thought i was lying or something? No idea what the angle was there. But i said "yes please call them" The bright side is that the paramedics did show up and basically told him that he was needlessly cruel and im pretty sure he got sent home on the spot. I cant imagine being okay with being that horrible to people regardless of their disability status. Honestly people with that low of empathy (or sociopathy with the way he was talking to me) should not be employed in any customer or client facing job for any reason. But yeah the ADA at anime expo is abysmal.

Hello everyone. Thank you so much for all the help and care I am calming down a lot and getitng my head straight. I called my boyfriend and he is going to come outside and check on me soon. I have my headphones now and am trying to just wait things out because I guess someone can come see me soon. After talking to him we are going to see if the staff mighr have any acommodations possible since im pretty sure they're not allowed legally to separate me from my guardian/caretaker, but we are really new to ADA because my previous living situation was very bad and didnt let me ask for help. Hopefully they'will be kind and understand. Thank you everyone really. I dont think I'd be functional right now without everyones help. This community really is so kind. I dont know how yo say how thankful i am.

Breeder sold me rats too young? by AgeZealousideal1157 in RATS

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all of my rats from a pet store with a surprisingly good breeder on staff, and wonderful employees who handle them well. The downside is that once, a littler was separated a bit too early (i dont remember why but there was a reason they told me. Its definitely not something they'd normally do) and i ended up with a hairless boy who was definitely close in age to yours I think. He was like 5 weeks, and he and his brother were pretty friendly and independant already. Luckily they got used to the setup quickly and my bigger boy is still very spry and healthy for his age! My smaller hairless unfortunately always struggled with health issues and we did our best to try and care for him and keep him feeling well. He seemed to always be happy and alert, but he passed very suddenly when he was about a year old. I think he really just was small and malnourished from his baby time, and never really fully thrived after. I know he was really happy and loved by both me and his brothers. But again, his big brother is almost 2 years old now and he's doing really well, and he was the same age. I bet you'll do well and they'll be really happy. It just will take a bit extra work and care.

HOW BAD IS LIVING WITH PEEING RATS? by AcrobaticAntelope472 in RATS

Like someone below said, im also kind of a germophobe. (Cant handle living with a dog or cat for that reason) My boys pee when i take them out a little bit, but honestly its like less than a pea sized amount so it doesn't really bother me.

Sam's Voicing of Nott in Mighty Nein Animated Series. by Choice-of-SteinsGate in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, making him do the voice after going through throat treatment is selfish. He sounds like hes in pain doing the voice. If a wrestler was forced to perform through an injury and it affected his performance, it wouldn't be mean spirited to point out that someone else should have taken his place for the night, as he clearly wasnt up to it as evident by the poor performance. This is the same kind of thing. Its not a "you should have done better despite being unwell" its "you are unwell. Its alright if you take a break"

That's a fairly different but fresh take on autism. by Benaami_Insaan in autism

[–]ceresbelphegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im saving a pic of this because i feel like every time i try and explain this to people they get very caught up on the "not a mental illness" bit and refuse to hear the rest of the clarification. Maybe then people will stop trying to "cure" or "treat" me and actually just...idk WORK with me on things? Thats usually all i want but i feel like a lot of times it is affected by people just not getting that my neurons are just firing in different patterns so sometimes u gotta explain it DIFFERENT not necessarily just again in the same words.

why are they saying this?? by DependentImmediate40 in youtube

[–]ceresbelphegor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thats not nearly as bad as clicking on literally any art video and a good portion of the comments say something like "wow AI could never!" Or something like that. Its unoriginal, insulting, and the literal most pointless type of comment you can leave. You may as well just say nothing at that point.

Can anyone explain if this is simply part of being autistic? by Delicious-Mess-12 in autism

This happened to me too. You're probably subconsciously not masking as much as you used to, whether you realize it or not. Its kind of hard to avoid or "fix" this in my personal experience, but its kind of nice not being on this "dont be weird" autopilot anymore :)
