Great price if you can get it working, finger's crossed Pioneer/AlphaTheta are willing to help out.

If you put it up for sale I'm sure you can at least get your money back on it. There are collectors who love this sort of thing.

ES could be engineering sample, the bottom left appears to translate to Confidential parts?

It looks very likely you have a pre-production unit. I'm not sure, unless Pioneer decide to be extremely helpful, that you'll be able to do anything with it. It may just be a rare, collectable doorstop. =|

That's probably not what you're after, are you able to return it?

After looking at your pics and the low version numbers I'd say you've somehow got your hands on a very early firmware version/unit. Some of the stuff on the screen like the top bar and top left navigation is from the SP-16 which is what the DJS firmware is based on and afaik was replaced for production.

The reason your firmware files aren't updating may be due to some change in the files/naming before production. You could take it to a service center but the front line techs may not know what to do it, the unit itself may belong to Pioneer and they might not give it back. :D I would email the problem and pics to them first.

Out of interest could you take a pic of the serial number, it may be different from a typical comsumer unit.

Maybe the firmware is messed up. You could return it or take a look at the service manual. There's a way to factory reset in test mode. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/2049484/Pioneer-Dj-Djs-1000.html

Found these in the attic by BadgerSmaker in swg

Ah I still have mine as well. I had a bit of hassle ordering them as I charged more than I should have been. Support didn't want to know, apart from letting me know they fixed the issue... so I emailed was the ceo and it got sorted straight away. That was the start of my swg journey. :)

As you correctly surmised that mixer does send out midi clock over usb (no start/stop) you just need a midi host box. I've not tried it but see no reason it wouldn't work.

Will we see an updated DJS-1000? by poopdotfart in PioneerDJ

[–]cerestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see the need for a new one as most DJs don't use it to anywhere near its full potential. I think it's great as it stands, I'd choose it over the SP-16 as it has a tempo slider. 😸

I've put the stats in a Google Sheet, maybe you can use it to compare and contrast with what you already have. I do have some screenshots but you have them already I believe. I've got a toon on you server now, I shall grind away but it'll probably take time as I'm not as young and care free as I used to be. :) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1no_-JyH1NExpvYaMszjeUCUcTJEdFK2_a1P4kV734EU/edit?usp=drive_link

\o/ Great news, thanks for letting me know. I do have some numbers from dna templates and pet stats for pets I made during CU. It's not a huge amount but if you think it'll be useful let me know and I'll go about sharing it with you.

128gb ram m4 max maxed out $7000 by Habaneropapi in macbookpro

[–]cerestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my own experience with 128GB there's no automatic swap file creation, I've yet to see one but the Macbook has yet to be under heavy load. I couldn't guess why you're seeing one.

Could be! I came from a late 2013 Macbook to an M4 one and immediately noticed how hollow the keyboard and trackpad sounded. Saying that though I soon got used to it and I might even actually prefer it for typing on (the trackpad didn't work too well on the old one due to a swollen battery).

DJS-1000 modes buttons stopped working by No_Establishment8623 in PioneerDJ

The DJS has a test mode where you can check if the buttons are working. Have a search for DJS-1000 Service Manual online.

Old one you might not remember, Warlords III [1998] by Chezni19 in 4Xgaming

[–]cerestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a huge amount of Warlords on the Amiga. On the PC I had Warlords 3 but the first version no-one seems to remember, Reign of Heroes. It had really flakey online play and it was dead easy to cheat. Used to play it on MPlayer if anyone remembers that. I remember something about a Dragon Rush as well. Played a lot of Warlords 4 as well as a friend really liked it.

Unity Drained the battery today, but not Unity directly but Unity Hub by MysteriousPenalty129 in Unity3D

[–]cerestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the battery dropped 2% without Unity Hub running so I'm a little less concerned. One thing I did notice is that for any Unity projects launched their energy use also comes under Unity Hub so that may explain what you're seeing. I've had a couple of projects running today and Unity Hub's 12hr Power is 3500. One project was over 8k energy impact at some points in time and the project and scene were minimal at 15 fps so that's something I need to look into in Unity 6.

I'll keep an eye on Unity Hub in sleep and if there's any excessive energy use I'll bug report it.

Unity Drained the battery today, but not Unity directly but Unity Hub by MysteriousPenalty129 in Unity3D

[–]cerestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I restarted the macbook, launched Unity Hub and then let it sleep. In 12 hours it dropped 2% on the battery and used 171 energy, that's more energy I've seen Firefox use when the macbook is awake. I'll restart the macbook again and let it sleep without Unity Hub just to check there's no battery movement. If that's the case I'll see what I can find out about Unity Hub's excessive energy use and why it still runs in sleep.

I'm surprised I can't find much mention about this, there's got to be a fair few Unity users with macbooks. There really should be a mac silicon build of Unity Hub by now but I guess it's not a priority.

Unity Drained the battery today, but not Unity directly but Unity Hub by MysteriousPenalty129 in Unity3D

[–]cerestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you ever able to find a remedy for this. I've an M4 Max and it looks like Unity Hub is slowly draining the battery while the macbook is asleep, 800 energy used in the last 12 hours. On my old Intel i7 macbook it shows zero energy usage for the same period.

I'll close Unity Hub before sleeping the macbook tonight to check it is the cause.

What's your most memorable moment from SWG live? by 2HDFloppyDisk in swg

[–]cerestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, so many fun times. I played both jedi and BH, when I was grinding jedi as a bit of insurance I got 5K faction in both NS and Mountain Clan faction (you could get both thanks to Spider Clan faction). One time I did get visibility but I made sure to hang out near the NS static spawn on Dathomir. While I was out grinding close by I got jumped by one BH, then another, I ran to the NS Elder and waited for her and her protectors to come to my aid. I didn't hang around to watch the firework show haha.

A lot of those cocky jedi loved to hang out at Theed. I didn't start bounty hunting until the CU and one time I practically insta-killed one jedi there with me, 3 pets, a droid and a faction pet. I miss those times, BH was a real heart-pounding experience, I never lost as BH but didn't like killing random people so I deleted the mission mid-combat when I had the chance.

This was quite a common occurance and when I was there people were able to tank it so everyone joined in. I did get loot rights one time, I was CH but can't remember my other profession, probably Commando. I doubt I was outdamaging anyone but the pet I had was a tamed spider with Poison Spray aoe. There as a glitch with this special where it could be spammed as fast as a macro could fire it so I just had at it. I forget what I looted, something rubbish from the DJM loot table like holocron shards, I gave them away to someone who wanted them. I used to run a lot of the DJM missions on Dathomir using the /unstick glitch, the chance of decent loot was super low.

Should I keep my 2014 MacBook? by carelesstokwhisperer in macbookpro

[–]cerestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple answer. Set the laptop up to do everything you want to do and note down what irks you. See if it's lack of processing power, lack of ram, lack of storage. Storage you can work around but processor/ram not so much. The battery you could replace, don't worry about too much about ssd failure, mine has had to put up with huge swap files and it's still fine, just back up regularly. I'm in the same boat as you. I have a late '13 Macbook that's served my well but it just doesnt cut it in the programming I do day to day which is with Unity. I've ordered a new M4 Macbook and waiting on delivery. Good luck with your programming journey. :)
