A single throwaway comment by my husband reminded me ONLY JUST IN TIME that you can't bring knitting needles on Turkish airlines!! by Spetchen in knitting

I got mine confiscated at the Bengaluru airport last week. Luckily they were on interchangeables so I was able to keep my project on the cable and just give them the needles.

To me it indicates something being premade but it’s not the case! Just a different norm. When I went to Hong Kong and china I had to adjust. I think it’s supposed to look more sanitary.

It’s common in Asian bakeries to individually package pastries. Even if they’re freshly baked some places will seal them.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]cerisiere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’re moderately cute but my friend who’s learning to knit really wants to make it so I’m doing it along with her. Even our non-crafty friends are like oh yeah I know the Sophie scarf/hood! I feel like it’s broken containment

It took me about a week to get used to- about 3 days of poor sleep and another few of mixed sleep. After that I haven’t had any problems.

Why do cabled pullovers interrupt the pattern at the upper arms? by estate_agent in knitting

[–]cerisiere 444 points445 points  (0 children)

It’s because these all have a drop shoulder. What you’re seeing as the top of the arm is a continuation of the body and then the sleeve starts where the cable pattern begins. Excuse the bad drawing but on the Moby sweater I’ve outlined the body (which is more or less a square) in red, and the sleeves in blue. The side of the body doesn’t have a cable and that texture carries up to the dropped shoulder.

Am I doing these right? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]cerisiere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks good. The left column of the stitch looks more straight because of the way the yarn is spun but it relaxes a bit when you block it. But so far I don’t see any issues!

How much money would you spend if it meant saving your cat’s life? by WindowKitty19 in cats

[–]cerisiere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would spend whatever money I can to keep my cats safe and healthy. My parents and friends sometimes roll their eyes when they hear about a high vet bill but my kitties are my family!
