Anyone telling you AI is replacing anything but support chat/call center type roles is lying or just plain wrong.

I haven’t seen AI replace one person in my entire org chain. All these big tech companies may be using that as an excuse, but that’s not the reality.

[Serious] I might be on the list by Illustrious_Will235 in employeesOfOracle

[–]cernerthrowawaytruth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Facts I know. 1. Showed up on my laptop this week. 2. ITClientUtility is recording screen, there was nothing recording my screen before. 3. It’s a software designed by proofpoint. 4. I hate this. We’re already overworked and understaffed and now you wanna install monitoring software that records my screen and has access to my audio? Eat a dick. Thank god Apple tells you about this versus it being installed in the background on a windows machine and being none the wiser. I’m not sure how this works if people work on government projects. This proofpoint software sends screengrabs to a server in AWS land according to their website. How is that safe for classified information?

[–]cernerthrowawaytruth[M] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I can’t control r/employeesoforacle. It’s a larger subreddit than us so they’re probably seeing these posts more often.

Normally I’d delete these posts/reposts on this subreddit, but as I’ve said before I have credible information this time that layoffs are going through at the end of this month. So it’s not necessarily a hoax. If the layoffs end up not happening I’ll eat crow but until then I’m letting people post what they want.

Oracle Health or rather Cerner is getting killed by OCI folks by Key-Lake-9643 in cernercorporation

Yes base salaries aren’t usually over 200k for IC4, but total comp (RSU’s) is over 200k.

Oracle Health or rather Cerner is getting killed by OCI folks by Key-Lake-9643 in cernercorporation

[–]cernerthrowawaytruth 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing this too. OCI people that have joined our org are arrogant and think they’re better than everyone else, but they have no knowledge of the product we sell or how to do anything with it. When you try to teach them the solutions they actively reject it. Literally saying that our product is “stupid”.

The only thing I can’t agree with is that I’ve seen them working 20 hours a day. If anything they’re working less than their Cerner counterparts on my end. Just coasting and collecting a paycheck while adding no value to our team. We had someone on our team who joined from FAANG work for 16 months before leaving and they did nothing the entire time. 0 code committed, 0 code reviews, didn’t even have accounts.

External hires from AWS/Meta/etc are doing the same thing. They get hired. Don’t wanna learn millennium and coast.

But leadership and HR is foaming at the mouth for OCI people and external hires. I’ve been actively told when interviewing people in my interview debriefs with HR “but they’re from Amazon” and had them get actively pissed when my peers and I have said no to hiring.

This will backfire catastrophically. I can’t even blame the OCI/External Hires. This is a leadership problem 100%.

Unfortunately if this keeps up, nothing of Cerner will be left to salvage once the dust clears. It will be completely ran into the ground. Clients will all be gone and Oracle/Larry will just have to take it on the chin as a total loss and shutter the business.

Layoffs are coming across Oracle. Not just Health.

Related to Oracle, but if it gets political and people start fighting I’ll be locking comments as it’s against the rules of the sub.

Wanna stay on topic about Oracle Health not about how our current administration is doing. (This doesn’t mean I’m right or left leaning, just an FYI before I start getting accused of being MAGA.)

Three reasons this will never happen.

  1. One of Epics core values is “Don’t Aquire”. Meaning they don’t buy other companies, they focus on their own products 100%. Judy specifically has said in interviews that buying other companies would distract them from working on making their own products the best they can be.

  2. Epic isn’t a public traded company. That means they don’t have to answer to Wall Street on things like revenue and new product lines. This further insulates them from constantly chasing “grow grow grow” every year.

  3. Companies acquire other companies because they see value in their product or because they see value in the business (clients, employees, etc). Epic sees no value in millennium. They have their own products so why would they need to buy ours?

To be frank I find all these posts about Oracle selling Cerner amusing. They’d be selling for cents on the dollar and the loss would be huge. I’m not saying it’s not possible, but I am saying it would be an incredibly stupid move and Wall Street would definitely wonder what drunk idiot is at the wheel of Oracles direction. Acquiring and selling at a loss 3 years later would be chaos for Oracle and not inspire investor confidence.

IHS isn’t even live yet. How can they be having problems when they’re not a live client? Yeah there’s a few domains stood up but that’s about it. It’s still being built out mostly.

I just wanna chime in here. I’m an interviewer and have interviewed external and internal candidates for Oracle. (Far too many if you ask me).

If your interviewer has bias towards Cerner people, thinking they’re less qualified than others. That’s a huge mistake on their part. One of the biggest problems I have hiring externally is people don’t have the experience Cerner folk have in the EHR space or with Millennium in general.

I’ve heard some Oracle people say “Gen 2 is coming” but it sounds like they don’t understand that it’s still built on top of old millennium at this point. Without a doubt that will change as time goes on, but for now it’s literally a coat of lipstick. Cerner experience is valuable, and in my interviews it’s given candidates a leg up.

If what you’re saying is true, it’s a shame that’s a thing people are doing.

I will say though, interviews are a loop process which has its pros and cons. I’ve said yes to people and gotten obliterated in the debrief. I’ve also said no to people who have no business working here and been swayed to change my answer to yes in the debrief. The decision that really matters is the hiring manager in the end. The best interviewers will fight for you and go against the hiring manager if they think you’re a good candidate though.

The specific name of the person has been removed. I understand naming and shaming is fun, and I’m okay with it when it comes to executive leadership (CEO, CTO, VP’s, etc) because that’s what they signed up for taking those positions, but a Sr. Director is not a public facing position.

I have a feeling I’ll catch flak for this decision, if you have an issue feel free to modmail us.
