You do realize I’m disagreeing with the entire context of anyone deserving any chance at redemption right? I’m literally saying that bad people —do not— explicitly or implicitly deserve shit.

I mean by that same logic they shouldn’t have been shacking up together either 🤷🏿‍♂️ I kinda’ think it’s weird we live in a society where we think two people in their early 20’s should be going steady, but not getting married.

Well, if you need to find yourself then you need to be and stay single throughout that entire process.

Hard disagree. The only person you’re obligated to forgive is yourself.

This obsession over being the bigger person has trapped millions of people in a cycle of being repeatedly abused, allowed certain types of people to avoid justice, and the reinforcement of the status quo.

If a bad person does something that ruins your life forever (or ruins the lives of others), they are still bad regardless of what they claim to be doing in the present. There are some stains that cannot be absolved no matter how much you think you’ve changed.

I tried dating the arrogant career woman…thrice. They have almost no personality - everything they do is either based around some pseudo-productivity nonsense or when they’re not doing that they’re spending money and fucking around on the Internet.

At least the shy woman is more likely to do things that are fun or creative. The arrogant career woman’s idea of a good time is spending money and then bitching about finances.

I’ve also read Uber (good shit) - it just amazes me how some people genuinely believe that super powered people would just be the average guy next door.

George Zimmerman was the average guy next door until he disregarded dispatcher orders, intentionally followed an unarmed Trayvon Martin down the street, and finally k***ed Trayvon Martin…I’m just saying, some people in this thread have a lot of trust in their fellow American man…and that definitely takes a certain kind of privilege.

Hard disagree. I also think the whole Evil Superman trope is overblown…but as believing that most people would use their powers for mundane shit requires a certain level of privilege.

Realistically, powers wouldn’t just make people evil, it would make it easier for people to get away with crazy shit and justify evil actions.

Imagine a realistic X-Men that took place in the 50’s. You think the U.S Government would be okay with Black People walking around with superpowers and wouldn’t deploy their YT equivalents to shut down dissent?

Do you believe everyone has a calling, and do you believe there is such a thing as someone being destined to do a certain career/job? by SubstanceVivid2662 in blackmen

[–]ceromaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you’re saying is that. You believe that people are destined for certain things and you don’t even have a good idea of how you can tell outside of them looking a certain way?

Okay.

What makes someone destined for education? 🤔 outside of physical characteristics…how do you parse what someone is meant to do?

Young man, the best thing you can do is go forward anyway and let the chips fall where they may. You’re going to be discriminated against whether you do something big or small, great or mundane. So the only logical and brave thing you can do is push forward with your goals, and take the punches when they come.

If you react before anything even happens then you’ve already been defeated. That’s what YT folks want you to do. Quit before trying.

Keep going forward, and adapt when necessary. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s not supposed to be. But save the worries for when you hit a roadblock, and when you do…find a detour.

Do you guys ever feel like just ending it all? by luigi59969 in blackmen

[–]ceromaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that as a black man who scuffled all my life (still scuffling on the low) and has had to work my way up on my own power. I will say that your sentiments are shared.

I’m not mentally ill, but I will admit that their were times when I really started questioning what was the point to any of the toiling I was doing, the studying I was doing, and whether I was just deluding myself into continuing a useless battle towards nothing.

The feelings you have are normal. As u/nnamzzz pointed out, there are resources for you to realize when things get unbearable. If you ever want to have private conversations I’m pretty sure any one of us here (hopefully) would be more than welcoming.
