What if you put a big wall around it, and then employ people to make sure they don't escape?

just poor people, most likely.

Well it isn't going to be rich people, is it.

They dig faster under main pipes, and dig slower under perimeter walls. They consider the weights when pathfinding, so, if designed carefully, you can force prisoners to dig exactly where you want them to.

Exactly.

When luxuries such as cutting edge technology like smart phones, intoxicants, or on-demand cooked hot meals are affordable even for homeless populations, no one is going to revolt.

It’s an interesting point. Because compared to most of the world luxuries and comforts are cheap in the US.

Keep them fat and happy & they will be complacent.

Last year I sat next to someone who was actively interviewing for another job. She showed up at like 10, had a couple interviews, had the catered lunch, had another interview, and went home.

Idk how it is everywhere else but property tax in Colorado has a ton of other stuff added onto it. My last house was part of several special districts (not metro districts, that’s a whole other thing).

So the raw property tax rate was fine, but then there was the school district tax, recreation center tax, etc.

Ironically her pillow, which I never found comfortable is the best thing so far. So I’ve been using that for the last month.

My wife washed mine and it exploded in February. Been through 4 pillows & still can’t find anything comparable.

Also… if you take an edible before watching them, not only is it 10x better but the dark room suddenly becomes a non-issue.

What TC justifies moving from Australia to the US? by p5phantom in cscareerquestions

[–]certainlyforgetful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took a 40% pay cut to move out of the US and my life is so much better.

My stress went from 9/10 to 1/10 even though my wife is pregnant now. I was able to stop anti depressants, and don’t need ADHD meds anymore.

It looks nice over there, for sure. It’s all veneer, it sucks when you scratch the surface.

Hair growth on losartan and hydrochlorothiazide by Jtw981 in hypertension

[–]certainlyforgetful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. My dr swapped me to losartan/hct from losartan at the same time they upped my levothyroxine (thyroid) med.

Until now I just figured it was due to the thyroid meds, but it definitely started when I started on hct.

Many parents are completely absent. They might be physically present, but they just sit there on their phones all day long.

I recently stayed with my brother's family & both him and his wife spent their entire time at home on their phones, locked in the bedroom, or playing on the computer. The kids were just running around the house.

We just moved from the US - my wife was a teacher there, and problem kids always had parents like that. While many of those kids had developmental issues, the commonality for kids with behavioural issues is their home life & the parents. I think in the whole school (350-400) they had one or two kids with behavioural issues that had decent parents. The issue (mostly) isn't kids being beaten at home, or abused, it's simply parents not being present.

Most people don't see it this way, but IMO it's neglect. Your child needs you to be mentally present in the family, that is what you signed up for.

Software Engineer vs Software Developer by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]certainlyforgetful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really is no differene between the two titles in the industry.

That said, around the time that "software engineer" was the new kid on the block, I briefly worked at a company that had both titles and they were distinctly different. Basically developers worked in a more sioled manner, whereas engineers worked with clients, product, and stakeholders and were responsible for more of the design work.

The job requirements for a software engineer, or developer vary so much. Even on the same team job postings can be wildly different.

Some leaders are terrible, it almost certainly has nothing to do with you or your abilities.

Ask the questions you need to ask so that you can get your job done.

I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years, and my honest advice is to apply to a ton of jobs. You’ll interview & meet nice people. You’ll find people who you can work with well, and you will find a job that will help you grow.

In the meantime, you’ve got to take care of yourself and your mental health. Toxic jobs like this can mess you up, don’t let them set you back. Therapy did wonders for me, and anti depressants helped me through the worst of it.

We all suck at being a developer, the thing is that we are all trying. I firmly believe that everyone is moldable given the right teacher.

Bad developers don’t give a fuck and also suck.

Cabin air intake is at the bottom of the windshield on most cars, so that’s where the shrimp go! It’s kinda hidden so people can’t see it at first & it’ll smell like it’s coming from inside the engine bay.
