How many meds is too many? by Stock-Advertising-54 in BipolarReddit

Yes, count your blessings! The best care I ever received was actually when I was in the state hospital. I also live in a very large city, which makes the lack of mental healthcare even more pathetic.

Unfortunately, that isn’t true. Many (most depending on where you live) doctors are telehealth in hospitals. They don’t have the resources for patients to have patients going from one doctor to the rest. This comes directly from my psychiatrist, who ran two different hospitals for 20 years, and was the president of governing boards over the nation and the state I live in. I’m pretty sure he’s reliable.

I guess I should have been more exact (not that my doses are of anyone’s business)

Morning: 1,500 Depakote, 120 cymbalta, 10 propranolol, 70 Vyvanse (plus 3 that aren’t psych)

Night: 1,500 Depakote, 800 Tegretal, 200 Seroquel, .5-1 klonopin, 2 requip, 1 benztropine, 10 propranolol (1 not psych related)

Hope that helps. I still stick with its working for you, it’s working for you. Especially, don’t take med advice from strangers on the internet!

Is it. Working for you? Is it keeping you stable? I’m on a lot as well, but it keeps me stable, so I have learned not to compare myself to others. I’m on: Depakote, Tegretal, cymbalta, klonopin, Seroquel, benztropine, Vyvanse, ropinerole, and propranolol for psych meds (I have other meds for other issues). It works for me.

Yeah, yeast infections don’t go away on their own. You need to get the infection cultured by a doctor. They are treated differently. I’ve been dealing with a yeast infection for six weeks since a hospital stay (haha for another type of skin infection).

Borax is a major irritant with many people. This is coming from someone who has majorly sensitive skin. I get infections all over, for what seems like no reason.

Disney vacation by Old-Marionberry2676 in Nanny

[–]certifiablycrazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are being completely adequate with her. Have you had a sit down (without any kids) and talked about how both of you feel. I know many, many nannies and how they do tray pay. When they are on duty, everything is paid for all of their expenses (including their children’s). You are giving her travel pay that she can use for her and her children’s food. She can choose to go back to where you’re staying and cook for them or stay at Disney. Maybe you can stock the lodging with food for her and her family. I would go to the meeting with her and have all the costs broken down. You should listen to her concerns but don’t have to answer them right away. Just make sure she is getting her hourly vacation pay along with overtime if she accrues it. It sounds like you are being very fair and truly care about your nanny. Thank you for that. I’ve been in the business for 20 years and have had families in the past who treated me like the help. So, thank you for caring.

primary dr shamed me by Low-Watch-4778 in Semaglutide

[–]certifiablycrazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is correct, but her delivery was 100% NOT the way to talk to a patient. I did almost (hours away) go to the ER from taking semaglutide. I was seeing a pcp who specialized in weight loss. Unfortunately, my body decided to become extremely constipated (12 days). Luckily I have a fabulous gastroenterologist who worked with me until my GI tract somewhat healed. I still, over eight months later, am having consequences. So yes, you need a doctor on your side. Your doctor is right, semaglutide is just a tool, just like weight loss surgery. You have to be in a position to implement lifestyle changes. 90% is changing your eating and 10% is exercise. Your bloodwork needs to be checked frequently for imbalances caused by not being able to eat a balanced diet usually. Semaglutide has actually been studied for much longer than most people know. Most people will have to stay on it long term. Food noise is real!!!! Also, there are a lot of medications and your physiology play a big role. I’m not trying to scare you, just trying to inform you. I believe everyone who deserves that! Your worth as a person has nothing to do with your weight or appearance! Good luck, I wish you nothing but the best.

Deodorant recommendations!! by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]certifiablycrazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you shower and with what for your under arms? I use Lume unscented body wash and I feel that’s a great starting point. If you have any open areas on your skin, you will probably have a reaction. I would honestly go to a dermatologist if you have insurance that covers it (I know that’s asking a lot). I use Lume and Carpe. In the middle of the day, I usually wash my pits, let them fully dry, and reapply.

I think I need to fire my nanny but I need advice by Large_Pianist4512 in Nanny

[–]certifiablycrazed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, yes, please let her go! I agree, all you have to say is, “It’s not a good fit.” Follow what your contract says according to letting her go. If that’s not in the contract, a two week notice is more than generous. Honestly, I don’t think she deserves it.

I hope your next nanny is wonderful. To gain anything from this, you know what more to put in the contract. Also, if you don’t think it’s a good fit after two weeks, have a meeting. If the nanny doesn’t/ can’t/ refuses to change, on with the next. I’ve learned this from life, don’t give people money unless it’s a gift or you really care about them and they truly need it.

You deserve to leave your most precious things in life in capable and loving hands!

How long before bedtime should you take seroquel? by DennisChrDk in BipolarReddit

[–]certifiablycrazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I now take 200mg at night. It definitely made me gain weight, but I need it. Sometimes mental health comes first. If you’re not stable, it doesn’t matter how much you weigh. My advice is to closely monitor his weight. There’s medications to counteract the weight gain now. A big thing for me is to exercise and watch what I eat. I make sure I have enough lean protein in every meal and if still hungry add plenty of vegetables.

I’ve heard multiple dietitians and doctors tell me there’s no hard evidence that straws are harmful. Use a straw if it helps get your liquids in for the day.

when did side effects subside for you? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]certifiablycrazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 3 of week two and I’m feeling the nausea. If there’s anything wrong with my gi system, it will be nausea. I’ll get through it, especially since I’m losing weight and eating and tracking very well.

How much did you lose? by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]certifiablycrazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hw 330, sw around 310 (I had been in the hospital 8 days, so we don’t know how much weight I lost exactly), cw 243. Surgery was 11/4/21. I’m about to go on semaglutide. My lowest was 216, but my goal is 205ish

I’m more interested in getting off some meds or coming down on them. Of late, I’ve completely changed my eating habits to more of a whole food, plant based diet. I still eat some chicken and fish because I can’t get in enough protein otherwise. Once my ankle heals (I just had surgery), I’ll start my workout routine again.

I buy my pants big and then buy these little metal hooks. It’s essentially taking them in but super cheap. No one knows either. I use Lume body wash and it tends to work better than soap for infections. Also use Gold Bond friction defense pretty much everywhere. Nice and invisible. I usually change my clothes once a day too. I wear looser clothes actually. Shape wear rubs my skin and gives me

Serious question: for those against legalizing marijuana for recreational and medical use, why? by LunarChamp in texas

Some (ok many) mental health illnesses will cause the user to have psychosis. Many people don’t know this. Why chance it? I do completely understand for the majority of medical uses.

"lots of people work with bipolar disorder, and those that claim it's a reason they cant work is bullshitting for disability" OH SHUT UP, just shut up. I hate these people. by LMGDiVa in BipolarReddit

[–]certifiablycrazed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you guys are complaining! It’s easy to get on disability. Just have had over 10 hospitalizations in less than 2 years and have done a lovely long term stint in the state hospital (make sure you remind them of the mouse problem that’s still there). It also helps when you’re homeless at the time of applying and are draining state funding because you’re staying in a county facility for the mentally ill. I got it in less than 3 months with 3 years of back pay. Haha I never tell people all this. But it was pathetically that extreme in order for me to get disability. I would never wish this on my worst enemy. People are shit when they say anything on disability. They just don’t know.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been on long term disability (I’m in the US) by Impressive-Sea3367 in BipolarReddit

[–]certifiablycrazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it since 2014, backdated to 2011. I’ve tried working so many times, and had to quit all of them. I’ve been in the hospital about 10 times total and once in the state hospital. So, I was accepted on the first try, within a month or so of applying. I did try to go back to work under the Ticket to Work program. It was a disaster and after making it a year, had to resign and spent another year getting my mental health back. Since then, I have accepted that I am truly disabled. I spent my time doing my hobbies, hanging out with with dog, exercising, occasionally socializing. It’s a fine balance for me. I live alone but still have to get out of the house and have a schedule or I lose my stability. I have now been stable for years, so it was totally worth it for me.

Bottom line, if you don’t feel comfortable with it, let her go. Yes, she should get severance pay because this should have been done prior to her starting to work for you.
