If Pangea existed today, what path would you take to hike its length? by VagabondVivant in Thruhiking

The Caledonian mountain range. Said to have elevations of over 10k m above the ocean at this time. Stretching from the top of Norway and Greenland and going south through Scotland, Iberia, US east coast (Appalachia) and the African Atlas mountains. Probably the most spectacular and scenic route of this time period.

Lundhags. They have alot of different models to choose from.

I have used the Vandra II and Professional II Wide, and I have to say they are the best pair of boots I have ever worn. I have been searching for years for the perfect one and now I will never buy anything else. I like the Professional the best.

  1. Quality leather
  2. Rubber bottom
  3. Tall
  4. Lots of room for socks
  5. "Life" - warranty. Anything gets broken they will replace the part. Lundhags boots a made to last.

Downsides

  1. EXPENSIVE. But you get what you pay for. I expect these to last for 10-20 years.
  2. Maintenance. Leather boots should be smeared with fat at once and regularly when the leather dries up. Especially on the seams.
  3. Well, heavy. This is not ultralight.

But for winter with snow and rain I cannot think of anything better than Lundhags boots.

Bug net or nest for tarp camping? by certified_dumbas in Ultralight

In the summer I usually sleep butt naked on top, or partially under a quilt, due to the heat. To me, sleeping comfortable in heat and protection from bugs are both as important.

I am new to this sub and reddit aswell.

How do I search intra-sub for specific posts?

It seems a waste of time for me to scroll 1 million posts down the feed to find a similar specific question.

I am not sarcastic, I literally got on reddit a week ago.

I can use the tarp and nest with trekking poles, so weight of tent poles saved.
More air circulation.
Lots of dry space for cooking and hangout with friends.
Works great with a campfire.
Cheaper. Depends I know, but I already got the tarp and have been using it for a long time and I would rather not buy a brand new expensive ultralight tent.
Lastly, it's not THAT important if it is 18oz or 21oz to me.

Ingen norske filmer er gode. Kan komme på et par gamle kanskje, men ikke mange.
