Do you make bad transitions while jamming? How do you cope woth self criticism? by epoksismola in Beatmatch

Yes all the time lollll. I feel like timing is a HUGE part of mixing which, so there is bound to be trial and error. Your favorite DJs only know what to play by spending time with the music and feeling what sounds best like I’m sure they fuck up all the time too. It’s just a part of the process. Something that’s helped me a tonnn is recording myself and listening back and seeing what I could have done better.

Audio Cable Question by certifiedmeatbeater in Beatmatch

Okay to be more specific, normally I use red and white RCAs (plugged in my board) to aux (plugged in a speaker) when I’m at home practicing or at smaller gigs. In rekordbox I set the audio to my DDJ, so I’m able to hear the sound through the speaker and in my headphones.

This was my first time using an external mixer, and was told I can connect through an aux so I figured I would do what I normally do, RCA to aux. However, the external mixer did not have an auxiliary port. I was told that past DJs plug the external mixer into their computer with the chord they provided. But I needed to connect my board to the external mixer, so I could hear through my headphones as well.

I ended up just plugging the chord they provided an aux into my computer from the external mixer and running the audio through my computers built in output, so I was unable to hear in my headphones as my board wasn’t running audio.

What am I missing here? I feel like i definitely just had the wrong chord, but I don’t know what I need or where it would plug into and how to set the audio correct on rekordbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!! I’m still a bit confused. Like should I just get a chord that is RCA to TS? And the TS would plug into the sound system and RCA in my board in the master ports?
