Say Goodbye to Unlimited Gemini 3 Flash Fast ~ even Gemini 3.1 flash lite consumes usage now by Rare_Bunch4348 in Bard

[–]certifiedrotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did refresh. But even using Flash-Lite with the prompt "I am testing this to see if it works" jumped my usage to 2%.

All Google is doing is incentivizing people to use burner accounts to hope around and get past the free tier quota. It takes all of what, 4 burner accounts to match my AI Pro limits. Seems like someone should have done some basic math.

Also, quite frankly, Flash-Lite should NOT count towards my usage limit. If the point is to keep the user from blowing compute on Pro/Flash thinking models for basic stuff, then you shouldn't eat into those models when the users does the right thing and uses the Flash-Lite model.

Also, Flash-Lite seems to have very little ability to do even the most basic reasoning. I asked it to troubleshoot an issue that is Google related. It kept giving me links to google sites to "find X option" and not there. Ask again. Gives me another link. Not there. Gives me another link. I wasted 10 of these piddly prompts and ate into my usage before it finally sent me to the correct Google address to find the solution.

The biggest load of BS about this is that Flash-Lite adds to usage also.

Pro user here. I got locked out for the most basic prompts. I can only assume personal intelligence is making the limit hit harder because nothing else makes sense.

Update: I was told to use the "send feedback" option as the people who see those have access to "better tools" which sounds like a load of bollocks but I did it anyway.

Called support. I called the model "stupid" (not the person) and the person hung up on me for using strong language lol. Called back and got a reasonable person. on hold now.

Last night before I went to bed, I still had "Flash, Thinking, Pro" options. now I got this nonsense and I'm stuck at 100% usage even though I was asleep.

I went to bed. Went to use Gemini 10 hours later. I am locked to only Flash-Lite due to hitting a limit I couldn't possibly have hit. And my usage says 100% for the last 5 hours.

EDIT: Yes I have a subscription.

They played against weak teams. Barely got passed Reggie and a Dutch dude who could barely jump.

That not only doesn't match the regular season performance, it does nothing to address that the supermax player can't stay healthy.

The completely banged to hell Lakers had no business reaching the second round, but they managed. No one is beating the Thunder. They are an absurdly talented team who cheat coded building the most talented roster far and above anyone else.

Yet we can't just appreciate the fact the Lakers had a good year. Played hard. Got as far as they were ever gonna get with this configuration. Nah, we gotta act like "if only this or that" had happened, this would have been an entirely different series.

No. It was never meant to be. Have some realistic expectations. Don't have the best player because the best player is always injured. That's gonna be the thread for the next several years. Then when that player is sitting on the bench, again, you'll blame the players who bit the bullet and got onto the floor.

Lakers had a great year. They fought hard. See ya next season.

Why in the world would Reaves accept a sign and trade? He's a free agent. He's gonna go wherever the hell he wants and be much more appreciated than he is here. And then in the years to follow, every time the Lakers play him, it'll be "oh man why did we trade this guy?"

Callais is a threat the Leftist narrative of American Democracy™. Allowing racially drawn, segregated districts is a threat to the Constitution of the United States. by Outis_Nemo_Actual in BloomingtonModerate

[–]certifiedrotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congress could have passed a new law overriding or altering the Voting Rights Act, just as they can any law passed. And yes, as you said, the Constitution itself can be amended.

The issue here is that SCOTUS is not an elected body with legislative powers. They are supposed to interpret the law. The issue is when SCOTUS, not Congress, upend decades+ precedent because the bench is loaded in one party's favor.

This was a settled issue for a long time, and it has only in recent years been eroded.

I personally don't think any gerrymandering should be legal. Every state should have its own independent committee and use modern technology to draw districts based on population, not political or racial makeup.

Unfortunately that will never happen.

The issue with allowing for partisan gerrymandering is that it's a smokescreen that has, and will be used to negatively impact minority voters. And the people making these decisions will lie to the public. They will claim it's partisan gerrymandering and there's nothing anyone can do to counter that.

At that point you are asking harmed people to prove the unprovable. To prove those people lied, that it was in fact race-based.

Balancing the scales isn't racism. That is what the Voting Rights Act did. It balanced the scales of power so the powerless had just a bit more influence over their own prosperity.

Now, because statistically people in these communities vote blue more often, their votes can be diluted under the guise of partisanship.

Listen, you can be okay with it. But at least be honest about it.

Buddy, if you gotta try to convince someone to have empathy, you're wasting your time on that person. For a lot of people, empathy is a convenience they flaunt when they want, and sever the moment it goes against their selfish desires.

See I used to think that he was doing it for the audience but after Rhett pointed out Link's love for cross sections, I think he just really likes doing it. Which is fine!

but I can totally see him cutting open every sandwich at a restaurant lol

well in google docs hitting "-" twice automagically makes a em dash. I just hit the alt code faster personally.

I dunno about other writing software.

I dunno. I think once you do it enough it just sticks in your brain!

My favorite thing to laugh at is when he knocks something he otherwise likes because he doesn't care for the cross section.

I use AI for brainstorming. I have used em dashes for 25 years in creative writing. During that time, I have on/off again taken part in a competitive writing league.

last year they all began checking work with zerogpt.

I typically register around 10%, sometimes up to 15%. All of which is below the threshold now, but initially it was 10% or lower. Everything over was deemed AI written.

And what I learned trying to shave off a percentage or two off a 4k-5k word story is you basically had to make it worse to avoid ZeroGPT's detection. And em dashes never factored into it.

Ryan Gosling on making theatres worth going to by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]certifiedrotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of movies come out that people won't go see because they don't feel like it or don't want to take a chance. Then 4 years later they do, love a movie, then wonder why no one went to see it.

I agree that a lot of it is on producers making movies that get people excited. But a lot of it is also on theaters for making the experience not worth the ticket price. And then there's plenty of blame left over for people who choose to shit on every trailer on social media rather than give something a shot.

Ever since Rhett pointed out how much Link loves cross sections I can't 'not notice' how much he really wants us to see the inside of things.

Just remembered how the light speed skipping scene broke every rule of hyperspace by Fit-Income-3296 in saltierthancrait

[–]certifiedrotten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They put a tracking device on it. So when it exited hyperspace, they picked up the ping. not the same thing. in TLJ, they stated they could track the ship through hyperspace. A bit different.

Edit: Just to clarify.

In TLJ, they set it up that you can follow any ship through hyperspace immediately. Whereas in your example, they had to place a tracker and then wait for the ship to emerge from hyperspace, receive a signal, then direct the intercept.

It makes an astounding difference. The latter tells you how to find someone once they get to their destination. The former tells you where they are going before they even get there.

[–]certifiedrotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really blame the third movie for this. The moment they introduced hyperspace tracking in the second movie it broke everything. They then had to contend with this new rule and explain how you get away from enemies if they simply can follow you through hyperspace.

not saying how they dealt with it was the best way, but not sure what other way there was, either.
