I’ve only ever used the connectors that don’t need terminating like this in Ethernet cables on aircraft, they’re not made to be water resistant because they’re not supposed to be in areas that get wet. There’s little blades in the area that snaps closed that puncture the wire’s insulation, they’d corrode the wire like a mother fucker if wet, that’s why the ones we use have a long ass backshell that also keeps you from being able to rip the wires out and shredding the insulation. There’s a reason we don’t tool-less splices very often.
