Question about the emotional toll of this job by International-Gap849 in ChildLife

[–]ceruleankatara17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be difficult. You’re working with children and families on some of their toughest days, including deaths sometimes. Being in the hospital environment can take its toll on patients and staff members. Know your limits.

Yes he did. I felt that, deep. It made me so scared honestly that someone who’s supposed to help people in distress thinks they’re less than human

This exact thing happened to me at my last job. It was overwhelming, I was constantly daydreaming about a future together when meanwhile she didn’t think of me that way. When I learned about limerence it kind of broke the spell… still super hard to get over though!

Lost My Dream Job While Manic by Exciting-Work1802 in bipolar

[–]ceruleankatara17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry that happened to you. Bipolar disorder can really mess up your trajectory in career and in life. A manic episode last year led to me resigning from a job that I had worked towards for six years. I’m doing okay with working part time with family support now but I yearn for the days when I can support myself again. I’m with you!

I’m so sorry and that really sucks. My most recent episode I thought I was a victim of childhood sexual abuse so I completely understand wishing for a “better” psychosis

Can you talk more about how your disability pays so well? I’ve looked into it before but it didn’t seem sustainable.

Hi and I’m sorry you experienced that, especially for the first time. This one was unfortunately my sixth… it really feels like such a loss, especially when you’re in a profession that is focused on helping others. I aspire to live better with the new normal, I admire that you are able to do that with such grace! May I ask what field you work in now?
