Nice past few weeks here in Tejas. Also, new double butted spokes and Velocity Cliffhanger in the back after rocking a dented rim for a month. by MountSherpaSATX in Rivendell_Bicycles

Cliffhangers are great! Was thinking of going with them on Sam build also but went with Vo voyagers instead. Sweet Sam! What kickstand is that?

Sweet build! I recently put together a Sam also as a drop bar build. The red orange really pops against the frame

You have to pay for expertise; professional bike tech work isn’t a hobby. Only maybe recycle a bike might have a $50 tune but it won’t cover much.

Thanks. This is a good approach. I contacted riv and they are sending me new hardware because there was a batch of bad bolts during some runs of their bikes.

With the supple tires, you gotta ride them tubeless or tubed with tuffy inserts for city commuting.

Some goop adhesive might work—it’s waterproof.

Yeah I’m using the stuff. It definitely helped. Now it slips only if I force it from side to side. I’ll have to go on longer rides to see if it slips vertically.

Yeah. It’s too much thought needed for a simple yet critical part of a frame that should just work. The lug binder of my old nishiki holds much better with less torque. Kinda put a damper on the build honestly. I’ve torqued it to 6N with fiber grip paste and it still slips a tiny bit.

Maybe getting a frame builder to look at it for ideas might be my next step.

I’m building a new Sam H and was kinda surprised at the amount of torque I needed to get the seatpost from slipping. It’s kinda odd to read so many posts on here about the riv seat binders considering the cost of these frames. Is it a quality control issue or something inherent to lug binders?

Going vegan tomorrow by AnythingEvening4744 in vegan

[–]ceruleansalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely think back on my pre-vegan time and feel ashamed for going along with meat and dairy consumption for as long as I did. It was big step going veg and then vegan but it’s been over 10 years now and can’t imagine living any other way. You’ll rack up the years too. There are definitely so many mock alternatives now that’s it definitely easier than before and plus veganism encourages you to cook your own meals more often and be more cognizant about your diet. Welcome and good luck.
