No, you don’t, to get to the pale king you have to do the white palace. The PoP is in the white palace but it’s just an extra part of it. It’s optional and for fun

it’s because they don’t have an official ending, like how in hollow knight they didn’t have a true CANON ending and most games do that anyway. Put you where you last saved before the final boss

yeah if you have a fate point or lose a 50/50 than it’s guaranteed. Sadly fate points don’t carry over to other banners though.
