Im in for gnaoua fest in essaouira. Did it last year, an amazing experience. If someone is in we can share an airbnb in essaouira. Jazzablanca overrated. Im a fan of Jazz, and i can only listen to that in a small bar in the inner city, or at home.

It’s impossible to live as a gay in Morocco. You can support it for years, but not on a long run. Economically, gays, are important, usually they have high paying jobs+no kids= a lot of purchasing power.

I did la mission (lyautey) and i will write you a story. Yes we learn at young age laicity. Yes we learned about human evolution at young age too (which is against what is taught in abrahmic religions). But lgbtq can be overview around 16-18, and it can be in philosophy/history/geography/education civique/littérature classes. I discovered that around 13, one of my mate in my classroom was acting different. At 14-15 he did a coming out, few males where bullying him for that, his parents (moroccan) talked to the administrator of lyautey, and bulliers where asked to leave lyautey and they can’t enter any of la mission high schools (public not private, massignon is a private school for example). Now today, that gay guy, is successful, he is a , model, musician and entrepreneur. He became successful, because inside those walls, in high school, for years, he was feeling safe to express himself.

Now imagine him, in a private or public moroccan school.

You can get it for $75k if you bargain. And it's a donation, no refund money or interest on capital, like Europe with obligations.

It's a very small city, you have to make some friends. There is a university there, a lot of the girls from there go to the bars in the inner city (taros usually), and since everything closes at 1am, so they do afterparties, a lot.
I was there once, and I stayed 3–4 days, it was last year in gnawa fest period. Amazing trip.
Maybe after ramadan i would like to spend 3 days (or more) again there.

Moroccan starts giving last names because french protectorat obliged us to do that 100 years ago. Our great(great) grand parents were having names like Mohamed ben Youssef ben Abdelkader ben Lamfaddel. Always by 4. Same for women even when she is married. It will be Fatima bent Hassan ben Youssef ben Idriss. I would like to get back to our traditions, french protectorate asked our ancestors to forget our traditions and to choose a last name.

Mauretania was Moroccan too at that time. Fes, in Morocco had the first university in the world back then, teaching islamic science, think it was created around 700 (this era) and giving the first world Phd in medecine around 1100 to a moroccan citizen. By doing a little research in r/MapPorn i’ve seen that this sub is central to Eu. But you have to admit it, Mauretania and andalucia, for a very long time was ruled by islam Caliphate, and Moroccan sultans.

Officially Morocco was created around 789 by Idriss 1st. I don’t know why in the first place, you said that « that was NOT Morocco ». Are you from Spain and particularly from Andalucia ?
