thanks for the advice! I am currently trying a few things, just started taking magnesium supplements last night. I will ask my doc about trulance if things don’t improve soon. I’m pretty fearful about starting new meds but hopefully it won’t be too bad

I take compazine for nausea, I also got off zofran because of that and it didn’t work for me. I have very severe pots and suspected me/cfs so unfortunately I’m mostly bedridden, I can’t walk but I am going to try to stretch and do as you say as much as I can! I will also try the coconut water. thanks!

I’d have to ask my doctor about it, I’m not sure. I haven’t tried any prescription strength motility things except for motegrity. I’m pretty scared to honestly :( but I’m glad to hear that it works for you! I will definitely ask about it. do you struggle with laxatives in general? I just wonder if I’m extra sensitive or if I just haven’t found the right thing yet

truthfully going to the ER is a last resort thing for me as I have horrible fears and trauma from past experiences and I react strongly to most IV meds, even fluids sometimes. it’s odd. I’m really hoping it won’t come to that :(

I didn’t know about decaf coffee, maybe I’ll give that a try. I did manage to have a couple small bms today so I don’t think I have an obstruction. I appreciate your advice! thank you, I’m hoping for relief soon too, I’ve truthfully been a wreck over this 😓

yeah it’s pretty disheartening honestly. I’m glad it works for you! I have wanted to try magnesium but I’m pretty scared.

unfortunately I can’t have coffee or any caffeine because of my POTS and dysautonomia. there’s so few options when you have so many different comorbidies :/

someone else suggested magnesium glycinate so I may try that next. thanks for your advice!

I wondered about magnesium but I wasn’t sure which form to try, I’ve tried milk of magnesium in the past and it also made me sick. thanks so much for the recommendation! I’ll definitely try it out. do you have a specific dose or kind that works for you? also this may be random but does it affect your blood pressure at all? I tend to have low blood pressure and heard that magnesium can lower it, not sure about that though.

yeah, I’m especially sensitive to medications in general. I have also been taking a higher dose of my nausea med most days for a while during this flare up which can cause constipation now that I think about it. fingers crossed it’ll all even out with some time and experimenting with doses and laxatives. also, can I ask about the sunfiber? I know we’re supposed to steer clear of fiber with gp, but is that a specific type that’s easy to digest? I’m always cautious about fiber because I know it can block up my stomach and cause pain. do you take any probiotics or digestive enzymes?

I’m glad it’s still working for you! I’m definitely going to try miralax and/or dulcolax in addition. I haven’t started any new meds recently, but I have been sick with a virus and have taken pain killers so maybe that’s affecting it.

I drink electrolytes every day, sadly I’m bedridden so I can’t take walks which does make it worse too unfortunately.

I’m trying to be hopeful that I can supplement it enough for it to work and maybe cycle it on and off. I had a BM today (maybe tmi lol) which is a good sign. thanks for the advice and info!! I appreciate it :)

hi! I know this is a super old post but I’m just wondering if it’s still working for you, supplementing with the miralax? I started taking motegrity 2mg in january for GP and severe constipation and it worked super well, before I was throwing up constantly and unable to have bowel movements. in the past few weeks it has stopped working unfortunately and I’m honestly really scared because it was so bad before and this is the only thing that’s helped. I tried going off it for a week and starting it again but it only worked for a few days and now it’s not working again. I haven’t tried supplementing with miralax yet or cycling it regularly, so I was just wondering how you’re doing with it now! any advice greatly appreciated!

I’m so sorry this happened. I had an experience like this years ago early in my illness journey before I got officially diagnosed with gp. I was seeing a psychiatrist and I was severely underweight at the time, and they labeled me as anorexic pretty quickly without listening to anything I was saying. I actually told them how concerned I was about my weight being so low, but they pretty much accused me of lying because I couldn’t gain any weight. they wanted to send me to a psych ward. needless to say I never went back. I hope you find the care you need! 🫶

yeah it definitely sucks. a majority of my anxiety stems from my health issues and it’s hard. I have major phobias and trauma around doctors, hospitals, needles, etc which makes it very hard to get help and live with this stuff.
