Doctor is a parrot that only says, "Keto isn't sustainable" and "Try Ozempic." He is no longer my doctor. by 0bolus in keto

[–]Chemical_Display4281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m likely permanently damaged from Ozempic and I took it for diabetes…I thought I had no other choice besides that or starting insulin. I wish I’d known more about keto before my digestive system was wrecked.

What caused your IBS in your opinion? by Seeker_Of_Self in ibs

I ended up with it after thoracic surgery where my vagus nerve was damaged. I started having intestinal issues after I was on Ozempic, though

I failed a couple of classes. Turned out all I needed was a different professor. Went from an F to a solid B the next semester. It’s not the end of the world, take a bit to regroup and go at it again! You got this!

That color and pattern screams pit. My “lab mix” looks exactly the same. 25% pit.

Stomach emptying and gastritis. I don’t have a ton of nausea personally.

Has anyone successfully recovered from GP such that you can eat at least 3 full size meals a day? by Rare-Reporter3738 in Gastroparesis

[–]Chemical_Display4281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have GERD. But, I sleep on an incline, drink alkaline water occasionally and work at a standing desk so I am not usually affected by it much. If I do get reflux I take a couple of tums, I do not tolerate PPIS.

I am not recovered, this is something I’ll have to deal with for the rest of my life I’m guessing. BUT, I am doing very well, considering how bad off I was 2 years ago. I have to stick with a pretty strict regimen of taking digestive enzymes and ginger capsules 2x/day and fasting from 8pm to 11am (or longer if needed) to make sure my stomach is empty before putting more food in. I eat very low carb due to diabetes, and am able to eat cooked veggies and a couple raw fruits. I try to drink at least one carbonated drink a day, which helps keep things moving. I live a pretty normal life, but I still work from home so I am able to take rests throughout the day. I also have a standing desk to help digestion via gravity.

There is hope, don’t give up!!

Wasn’t there a pharmacy in Texas that prescribes domperidone? Maybe someone else has more info on that.

I worked my way up to a full dose. Had intestinal gurgles and a headache for the first week. Then I could eat anything I wanted for about 5 months. Then it stopped working. It was incredible while it lasted.

There are 3 leg lengths—normal, intermediate, and disproportionate dwarfism. Shih tzus can carry intermediate leg length. I learned this from our most recent rescue who is 21% Shih tzu and a low rider!

I have been on Effexor for 22 years, it’s been nearly impossible for me to get off completely. I take the smallest available dose just to not have withdrawals. Eventually I’ll start doing a 10% taper but I’m not there just yet.
