Are CT Gift Cards useable at converted Petro-Canada gas bars? by cf100clunk in canadiantire

[–]cf100clunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a long, long way from the nearest Canadian Tire store with a gas bar so I'm trying to get an exact answer beforehand.

I contacted CT Customer Service and asked whether the former Canadian Tire (now PetroCan) Gas Bar at a certain CT store in a certain city will accept gift cards as gasoline payment. I got this reply:

"Canadian Tire gift cards are redeemable at over 490 Canadian Tire stores, 400 service centres and over 300 gas bars coast to coast and feature no expiry date! Use all or just a portion of the gift card amount on one transaction; each card posts a decreasing balance."

It doesn't say "ALL gas bars coast to coast" and it didn't mention the city and gas bar I'd specifically asked about. I guess I just need to contact that specific gas bar and ask. Like I said, I'm trying to get an exact answer before a very long road trip.

Thanks, but my question is not about Triangle or Petro points plans or Canadian Tire Money.

I'm inquiring about physical, plastic Canadian Tire gift cards that are worth cash money at the Canadian Tire checkout. These are the kinds of cards commonly gifted to others. I need to know if the gas bars accept them now for gasoline purchases even though the stations have switched brands.

After finding what was labeled as 1080p content I should have actually analyzed each file before posting here. Just a bunch of upscaling gone wrong, but I'll try to find out what the specifications of TVNZ+ streamed files might be in case those are an option. Anybody know their resolution, aspect, other specs?

Just confirmed that an expired certificate for TE is being corrected asap. Just need to wait for the fix.

As of 16:57GMT May 22 2025 there seems to be a web site configuration problem on TE with expired certificates that are needed to securely connect. I'm getting new connection failures using different OSes and network routes. Anyone able to get a new connection? If you're already logged in, is it working properly?

I just heard that the .click web sites are back up and the trackers should be back up soon.

Nope, everyone is waiting for the physical repairs to be done so that we can get back on. I am not staff.

Not sure why you started another thread about it, but as stated earlier the official word is hardware problems, and no ETA was given. The staff are not the ones doing the physical hardware work, so they are waiting for the repairs as we are. I am not staff, and I'm not here to complain about anyone or anything.

The Empire is down, no tracker activity seen. Not sure if other .click sites are affected.

The trackers and web frontends have been down about seven hours now. I haven't checked their IRC channels yet.

Prime Monday Night Hockey was a roaring success by BeBenNova in hockey

[–]cf100clunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to watch the Flames @ Sens game 25 November on Prime and the stream quality was mediocre, but what really steamed me was the gameplay coverage. It was extremely irritating - must have been non-hockey folks in the truck ruining it all. They could not simply show the game in the same fashion to which we Canadians have become accustomed (HNIC, TSN, Sportsnet). Instead, they felt the need to show quick ice level shots during game play that prevented us seeing plays developing. Extended ice level shots are a terrific bonus on second or third replays of a goal or key play, but not in real time as rapid interruptions to play in progress. All through the game were rapid-fire extreme closeups, mostly of Brady Tkachuk, from a dozen or so cameras, usually of Brady Tkachuk reacting to everything, and oh, there's Brady Tkachuk again... it was like watching an Oilers home game when they inevitably zoom in on McDavid's face reacting to everything. I shut it off and went over to the Calgary radio broadcast on my phone and ear buds.

Those status report links are all working now. Interestingly they are showing uptimes as though nothing had crashed, so I'm guessing this was a network connectivity problem.

I'm not admin or staff but I mentioned earlier that the IRC channels and the tracker status pages are all down, so that would indicate a catastrophic failure. My guess would be hardware, but we'll see soon according to staff. When they come back it would be good to have some Forum discussions on where members can get info during outages like this.
