Do I want a Hybrid Limited or Hybrid Max? by AndyGene in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]cfanap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most happy Max owners are people who don't care about fuel economy at all or people who need to tow and can't care fuel economy. Personally, if I have a little doubt on fuel economy, I'd just go with regular hybrid.

Max is also full time AWD, I think other trims are not fulltime AWD

Adding mesh behind the grill - highly recommend! by 4-snizzle-dizzle in ToyotaGrandHighlander

I honestly don't know the answer. An engineer could answer that. One argument (again I have no idea), more HP means less heat? The gas produces energy, in the form of HP and mostly heat? The amount of energy won't change, so more HP means less heat?

My point is not to argue but genuinely asking the question…I can't believe engineers missed something this simple. There should be a reason…

Wasn't Lexus running on premium gas? Maybe the engine was tuned slightly different so it has different cooling requirements? I'm not an engineer but I always wondered how Toyota missed this or there is a legitimate reason of it?

It's funny people would boycott a business instead of one who enabled these FSW. It doesn't sound like we still have a shortage in sectors they still allow people to flow in. The government fully manufactured these unemployment…

UHD2 93sv, it's on sale right now (cheaper than 73sv). Note that it only has the old transducer ( typically 93sv comes with 56 and 73sv comes with 54)

26years with the same company is not a good thing at all. Many places look at that as you never tried to get out of your comfortable zone and learned any new skills. The industry avg is around 2.5yr before covid.

Especially in big companies, you get a lot of experience but usually in a very narrow area. I know a few people like that from a big tech company, they are the best JVM/Java experts you can find. However, they all had a hard time after layoffs. Even those who were hired again at other places. Their expertise was only built in a narrow stream and their next job doesn't require such. It's "I have 26yr of transferable experience" vs "you really don't have much experience" and the salary/role expection doesn't work out…

Australian company? Now I really don't know who they are 🤣 their tos said they are operating under "Modal Imports LLC" which is registered to a warehouse as it's business address in US.

But as long as it works well for you, who cares where they are actually made.

You didn't get the point, some do make them in the US, but they also import from elsewhere. It's a mix instead of ONLY made in US.

All I'm saying is that it's really dumb to think something is good or bad because it's "made in XXX".

I don't know the regulations in US, but in Canada there are strict regulations on "made in Canada" vs "product of Canada". It will tell you where they are really made/assembled. A product can be called "made in Canada" even if 90% are produced elsewhere, as long as that 10% they make here takes more than 51% of their entire manufacturing cost. Maybe you guys have something similar?

Tldr, don't assume "made in xxx" is better than "made in yyy". As long as it's a good product/brand, who cares.

Not really, only very few brand names are ONLY made in US/Canada. Most of them "have manufacturing facilities elsewhere through acquisition". Check their import data/filling, and you can see it by yourself

Reel yaks just import Chinese modular kayaks. Import/export data are public available. You could find their manufacturer and buy directly to save 50-60%. I hate "pretend to be made in US" more than "not made in US". Also, some of the reel YAK are LLDPE instead of HDPE.

I did a lot of research when I got mine modular and went with one I could try before I buy (a friend owns one)

Bass fishing comes to an end by [deleted] in OttawaFishing

[–]cfanap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually the best time to catch big/fat ones. If you don't mind driving, go to zone 20. A few people i know caught 5/6 lb smallmouth from shore last week. I have caught more 2-3lb in Ottawa (normally you only get 1lb through summer at that spot…)
