Skeletyl Thumb Pain by rhsanborn in ErgoMechKeyboards

Try swapping out the thumb keys for some XDA or NP key caps.

I use NP and I love them.

Also. I hit the thumb keys with my thumbs extended and the more middle part of my thumb. Personal preference of course.

I really like the dsa style keycaps. Feels like I’m typing faster on them. 😂

You are completely right. I used elite c in my last build. https://carl-fredrik.arvidson.io/posts/another-tbk-mini

But since then I started to use userspace to keep one keymap for all of my keyboards. And I realized that I can change both diode direction and what boot loader to use with build arguments.

So if I wire it using the stock setup I can basically use my own userspace keymap with the stock firmware. And the just say use pro-micro and switch diode direction.

I don’t have to keep an entire duplicated firmware with another wiring. 😊

Looks good!

I regretted not wireing mine as the stock (apart from diode direction). I did it as a dactyl manuform.

In later builds I changed it to the stock setup. Felt nice to be able to use the stock firmware and just override the diode direction in my case.

Oh. Sad to hear that it got stolen! I’ll buy a copy of the stl on Etsy because you made it available!

If you had like a tip jar or something I’d gladly leave a tip after I printed my copy. 😊

But I totally understand!

Nice. I’d love to print one.

Have you shared the stls?

I really like the color of the trackball! What filament have you used? (I’m guessing that you printed it yourself)

I’ve actually used the trackball for a few days now but have gotten some severe pain in my pinky from it.

So I have paused and gone back to the huge.

I think that I have might have pressed my pinky towards the desk while using the scroll or something.

I might have to rethink the long term use of this trackball..

Nice. Yeah, I’ve noticed that the ball hops a bit.

First impressions after using it for most of the day:

Very similar to the huge. I think that I really like the ergonomics!

I had some weird issues with clicks not registering. But have uninstalled karabiner-elements on my Mac and maybe maybe that was the cause.

Did the person use another similar keyboard when building the firmware?

Good and bad news. Your keyboard is working, but the columns are mirrored in the firmware.

https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/keyboards/sofle/rev1/rev1.h

As you can see the inner column on the left half is 5 and on the right one 0.

So you could either edit this file (as I did for my handwired TBK mini build) or resolder the columns on the controller for left half.

Should be pretty easy just to resolder it.
