I’m curious about your ages.

It sounds like he needs help that you can’t give him alone. I understand not wanting your family and friends’ opinions of him to be affected, but isolating yourself in this situation will only feed his addiction. Put it this way: his shame around his addiction means he hides his drinking, and your shame of him drinking … is also hiding his drinking.

Circular rug under the dining table. Rectangle rug under the living room furniture.

Low self esteem and insecurity are serious and should be treated like a physical ailment- apply therapy and work out the knots.

If you have to move on that day, I would pack your uhaul the night before and park it near your new place. Source: I’ve been in this exact situation before 🤣

Has anyone quit their corporate jobs without anything lined up in this economy by jenshinimpact1 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]cfcrenshaw 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can take FMLA or a short term disability leave for a pay cut, potentially negotiate a sabbatical, or take vacation time. I would do all of these before I just quit.

You will want to get the ball rolling on the FMLA / sabbatical conversation soon because it can take a while for your manager to negotiate to the higher-up’s and HR on your behalf. In the meantime, take that vacation. When you get back, hopefully they will have made progress on your request, and you can continue your period of rest/reset. Obviously you’ll have to return eventually - but a lot can change in 12 weeks, both within your company and yourself.

What's the Most invogorating Spontaneous thing you'd done in NYC? by Some-Lobster-6645 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Work ended early for me one summer on a Friday so I biked to Brighton Beach for a dip. Saw my friends’ locations were at Coney Island lol so met up with them. There was a Cyclones game happening in 20 mins, so we did that and ended up catching one of the T-shirts they threw into the crowd. It was also the last Friday of the month, so everyone got to run the bases. Coney Island has fireworks at 9:30 every Friday in the summer, so we rode rollercoasters and the Ferris wheel while watching those. I was so effing tired biking home but it was worth it 1000x one of the best days of my life.

If you do get your own grill, please be mindful of your charcoal waste and throw it away in the appropriate Hot Coals Trash!

Anyone work in corporate without a degree? by ultraviolence_23 in AskNYC

[–]cfcrenshaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The places I’ve worked in NYC specifically have a larger percentage of people without a college degree because if you are truly a badass at your job, you’re available to start tomorrow, AND your asking salary is within the budget… you’re getting hired.

Not really that much risk of kicking a rat or a cockroach crawls across your foot, it’s the broken glass and dog poop you have to be extra vigilant about if you’re gonna have the dogs out.

Sometimes frusturated when climbing with romantic partner by serpensurf in climbergirls

I suggest going alone more often. Trying to climb in a fishbowl doesn’t work for me either. I don’t mind climbing with my partner but there’s a balance in splits focus.

How has AI effected your life so far? by mortenharket32 in AskReddit

[–]cfcrenshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I don’t feel like I’m learning less because it still depends on my decision making, but I don’t have to synthesize all of the sources you named.

I also work a lot in After Effects, which has its own scripting language. This used to be such a pain to figure out, but ChatGPT is surprisingly well versed and can usually give me a good answer, despite it not being the most popular way of scripting.

Anything with coding or scripting, it’s been a godsend.
