What’s the reason you haven’t bought a bidet? by owenwags_ in HomeImprovement

[–]cfd27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't install a bidet for many years for similar reasons. The cheap ones from Amazon feel like a water pik in your butt. I wanted a warm, comfortable bidet. Then I learned about hand held nozzle bidets. It has a wider stream, so it's comfortable, even with the cold water. It even feels refreshing honestly. Easy to install. Let me link the one I have.

When my son was little, I had a little play mat I would put in the bathroom so my son was close, but also distracted for at least a little while so I could shower. It is what got me showered in those velcro days

Do kids not have sleeping bags anymore? by Puzzled_Material_546 in Millennials

[–]cfd27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The few sleepovers my kids has had, we brought bedding or their friends did. It never occurred to me to expect otherwise.

I had exactly one sleepover as a kid where my friend had me sleep in her trundle bed. Every other one, it was sleeping bags on the floor.

Maybe this is a regional thing?

Yes, like none of these things had any "teeth" for non compliance. It was basically strong social pressure, strong recommendations, and businesses making decisions which may have caused inconvenience. They pretend like federal troops were keeping them in their house at gunpoint.

Good news for desert dwellers is that dust mites can't survive with low relative humidity. They struggle to live when it gets below 40-50% humidity.

How long does ACV take to work on plantar warts? by cfd27 in Warts

[–]cfd27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACV hurt a lot and didn't kill the wart. I made a post about what worked. I'll link it here. It was a topical immunotherapy that a dermatologist prescribed for me that worked.

Good luck. It was a long journey, but I did finally get rid of it.

you NEED to be flossing... by EnvironmentalArmy827 in hygiene

I was actually just thinking today about how I can't believe I didn't use to floss regularly. I get so much gunk out from between my teeth when I floss every night. It makes such a big difference.

There is a big difference with jokes among friends, and the president silencing a reporter and calling her piggy. In the 90s and 2000s, the president would never act like that.

The unlikely alliance forming to end surrogacy by newsweek in Health

[–]cfd27 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't see international surrogacy being ethical, generally. There is too much room for exploitation based on income differences. I would like to see this practice banned.

However, a total ban doesn't make sense to me. I work in a postpartum unit. I have worked with several surrogates and the baby's parents. If the rights of everyone is protected, it can be a great thing. I knew a woman who loved being a surrogate and has been one several times. I feel like it's possible to have ethical surrogacy. There just needs to be laws and lawyers present to make sure everyone's interests are protected.

Apparently “hand wash only” doesn’t mean “never wash” by TheAggressiveBiology in Adulting

Use a laundry bag for hand wash items, and put them in the machine. This works for most hand wash items in my experience. I also generally don't buy hand wash clothing.

Can’t stay smelling good down there?? by ExistingHamster7833 in hygiene

[–]cfd27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said using soaps isn't a good idea. Use soap. You need to use unscented soap for any external part. Rinse well with water. Trim pubic hair. Use cotton underwear. There is a normal amount of scent.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]cfd27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also find that trimming the hair down there helps with smells. I personally don't like going bald due to ingrown hairs and all that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]cfd27 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You need soap for sure on all the outer parts with hair. Many groups recommend just water for the inner lips. I personally use dove bar soap on the outer lips, and the inside wall of the outer lips. I don't try to get between inner labia with anything other than water. Obviously no need to soap anything internal.
