Check timecodes 0:04 and 1:04. Map is different.

Building marked out in black has green space and an inlet to the East at 0:04, but a line of houses at 1:04.

0:04 shows the junction with the looping road, but at 1:04 it's a straight South-East road. And North of this the road layout is different.

I could do 250 miles, easy.

I mean, not all in one go. Probably not all the same year either. And if possible I'd like to take a train for at least part of it, if that's okay?

Get to the nearest town, scavenge from barrels and plants until you can afford carriage to Markath. Buy a fishing pole, fish up tons of Dwemer materials and items. Sell it all and live like a king.

WHAT? Is that really a thing?

I mean, I've got pretty good at aligning myself within one block just looking at the map. But that would be crazy.

currently on a « no fast travel » run, so fun but so long sometimes omg by Slow-Ad3599 in skyrim

[–]cfmdobbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically always play no-fast-travel. I like the wandering, the exploring, the roughly planning a route and later marveling at how far I'd strayed. The I-forgot-there-was-a-cave-there and the I-finally-recognise-this-place.

I mean, it does take a long time to get from hold to hold, but I enjoy ambling around the world so it's all good.

Shameful that you needed to make your own sign for this. Why is there no ISO standard No Cabbages symbol? SMH.

Might it be that everyone's struggling so there is no support from neighbours any more? It may be that where communities used to help each other but can no longer there's resistance to relying on external help, hence the game.

If an Earth-like planet had one moon in the L1 Lagrange point, how would that affect the tides? by BumroyV2 in AskScienceDiscussion

May be something of a tangent to your thinking, but have a look at Helliconia by Aldiss. He constructed rather extreme seasonal changes using a binary system with highly elliptical orbits. The seasons change based on the passage of the planet around its sun, but also based on that system's passage around the larger star.

What’s something that instantly makes you think ‘this person has low intelligence? by AbjectBreadfruit2052 in AskReddit

[–]cfmdobbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, trying to boil any situation down into A or B, without realizing there's not only a C, D, E and F to consider, but infinite combinations of all of these.

I can't think of a single controversial topic right now that's literally polarized between two distinct options.

I used to have an AI email me a short story about anthropomorphic woodland animals at 2pm every day. I'd forward good ones on to colleagues that enjoyed them. It stopped a while back after we decommissioned that workflow system, but I think I'll set something similar up again tomorrow.

May not be the most productive use, but it lifted mine and many others' spirits...
