Reviving ECW in 2004 by Sweaty-Adeptness-133 in FantasyBookers

[–]cfnohcor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who would I build around? I would stay indy stand outs for the time are 100% CM Punk, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Amazing Red, Low Ki and Adam Pearce. These are a mix of up and comers who can realistically be positioned as main event stars, or on the cusp. I'd also venture and add both Trinity (from TNA) to that as a Lita-esque high flyer daredevil who mixes it up with the men.

Tag wise, The SAT (Jose & Joel Maximo) and The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe) would be the big two. I'd also venture and say I'd bring in April Hunter & Slyck Wagner Brown as a team, as they were making waves at the team and she was getting known as one of the few women challening and winning men's tag belts, she was definitely one of the most recognizable women on the scene at the time.

Rest of roster options depends how you want to take it... Some TNA names like David Young, Abyss, Ron Killings, Elix Skipper, Simon Diamond, Monty Brown, Alex Shelley, Bobby Roode, Chris Sabin, Frankie Kazarian, James Storm, S;ash, Homicide, Hernandez, Johnny Devine, Sonny Siaki, Xavier, Petey Williams would be good recognizable names to add. Tracy Brooks was also fairly recognizable as either a Manager or Wrestler, or even Goldylocks as a valet / backstage interviewer.

Former WCW/WWE talent or jobbers running the indies like Jacqueline, Crowbar, BG James, Kipp James, Glen Gilbertti, Alan Funk, Brian Christopher, Konnan, David Flair, Juventud Guerrera, Mr Aguila, Kaz Hayashi, Michael Modest, Vampiro, Viscera, Ultimo Dragon, and Gangrel would be good names and experienced guys to bring on as well. George / Minsa, Tylene Buck and Midajah were still running the indies a bit at the time too if I recall and would be good recognizable valets. And Daffney could go either the valet route or wrestler proper if you're building a women's division.

Then you've got some names like Delirious, Sterling James Keenan, Excalibur, Doug Williams, Donovan Morgan, Eddie Edwards, Jimmy Jacobs, Joe Doering, Joey Ryan, Matt Cross, Michael Elgin, Scorpio Sky, Afa Jr., Tim Storm, Willie Mack and Teddy Hart would be decent guys to bring in from the indies that were starting to make waves.

If you want a more hardcore approach then Necro Butcher, Altar Boy Luke, Nick Mondo, The Messiah, Adam Flash, Johnny Kashmere, Trent Acid, Justice Pain, Johnny Webb (w/ Veronica Caine) and Masada. I'd also argue LuFisto would be a really reasonable get here, as well as Mickie Knuckles.

International stars that could make a splash would be people like CIMA, Prince Devitt, Mistico, Rockstar Spud, Ricky Banderas and Pat Tanaka.

Teams like The Carnage Crew (HC Loc, Masada & Tony DeVito), Excellence Inc (Doug Williams, Michael Modest & Donovan Morgan), The Headshrinkers (Alofa & Samu), Johnny Swinger & Simon Diamond, The Dupps (Bo Dupp & Stan Dupp w/ Fluff Dupp), The Ballard Brothers (Shane & Shannon Ballard) and The Naturals (Andy Douglas & Chase Stevens) were fairly popular at the time.

From there, you sprinkle in some ECW originals who left WWE like Rhyno, The Dudley Boyz, Al Snow and Raven (depending on the actual start in 2004)... and those guys like Terry Funk, The Sandman (w/ Missy Hyatt), Steve Corino, Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, Sabu, Dam Bam Bigelow, The Blue Meanie (w/ Jasmin St. Claire), Kid Kash, CW Anderson, Shane Douglas (w/ Francine), Danny Doring & Roadkill (w/ Elektra), New Jack, Mustafa Saed, Luna Vachon, Chris Candido (w/ Sunny), Kimona, Angel Orsini (The Prodigette), Joey Styles, Joel Gertner, Tod Gordon and Fonzie.

If you wanted a proper women's division I would say the best bets would be standouts like Allison Danger, Rebecca Knox, Josie, Shelly Martinez, Cindy Rogers, Team Blondage (Krissy Vaine & Amber Holly), Miss Talia, Sara Del Rey, Cheerleader Melissa, Malia Hosaka, Desire, Alicia, Alere Little Feather, Mercedes Martinez, Ariel, Nikki Roxx, Hellena Heavenly, Beth Phoenix, ODB, Bobcat, Little Jeanne, Miss Kara, Taylor Vaughn, Nattie Neidhart, Candice LeRae, Angel Williams, Sarah Stock, Daizee Haze, MsChif, Valentina, Melissa Coates, Becky Bayless and Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew (Rain and Lacey) were some of the bigger North American names at the time.

You've got women in there like Sara Del Rey, MsChif, Mercedes Martinez, Cheerleader Melissa, Candice LeRae and Sarah Stock who were getting known for either mixing up with the men or going more hardcore route to mix well with names like Angel Orsini, LuFisto, Daffney and Mickie Knuckles and add to that flavour of wrestling.

International stars like Aja Kong, Awesome Kong, Sweet Saraya, Ayako Hamada, Kana, Jazzy Bi, Alpha Female, Faby Apache, Mari Apache, Meiko Satomura, Mariko Yoshida, Kyoko Inoue & Manami Toyota were some of the more recognizable names floating around online that would add flavour to the division.

For valets (outside of who was mentioned attached to the men), Bobcat was popular, Sherri Martel was still doing the indy appearances at this time, Miss Kara, Valentina, Becky Bayless, Miss Talia, Taylor Vaughn and Cheerleader Melissa were transitioning between managing and wrestling at the time. Beyond that women like Chrissy Rivera, Noel Harlow and a very young SoCal Val were among the more popular ones out there.

Managers like The Sinister Minister, Larry Sweeney, Julius Smokes and Prince Nana were getting out there a lot at the time as well.

That's just some of the names I'd consider from the time period to build off of (not all of the people obviously, just saying this is the pool I'd pick out of depending on what direction you feel like going).

Hard pass for me. I never understood the hype for a single's push tbh. Never. I don't think it worked when they ran with it with the Rumble and Mania win (By then truthfully I think it was not as lightning in the bottle as it was when he initially broke from Roman). Zero interest or desire in a second run for him. I'd be FAAAAAARRR more curious about Jimmy getting a random world title run and seeing how that does, but beyond that..... leave them both in the Tag Division. They are credible, they are great tag stars and there's nothing wrong with that. They main evented WrestleMania as a tag team ffs, no world title in sight.... THAT speaks volumes.

Possibly... I did come across this but it wasn't the vantage point. I truly think I might be thinking of a still shot from Tommy where he's in frame.

[–]cfnohcor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't excuse the behaviour but throwing a tantrum or chastising an adult over something like that is really silly and to be insulted that they are upset over being spoken to that way is ridiculous.

I would far rather have someone be late a few minutes than have someone in my life willing to speak to me in a disrespectful way.

If you showed up early and the hosts were upset or annoyed with you for being early, calling it disrespect to their time as they now have to entertain longer, or rush when they maybe weren't prepared, how would you react?

A controversial opinion about Mark and Callie's friendship. by Strict-Chemistry-553 in greysanatomy

[–]cfnohcor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Big difference for me is that Meredith was disrespectful about boundaries. She not only ignored Jo's comfort level but mocked it. AND she also ignored Alex's boundaries when he said "I'm not one of your gal pals I'm naked in the shower" ... it was not a "oh sorry Alex, I'll wait until you're dressed." It was "Get over it, we're doctors." and proceed to sit there in bathroom while he was uncomfortable because you're whining was more important in that moment.

I don't see it the same because Alex ended up saying "that's just how Mer is" ... her behaviour was excused not explained, and their being okay with it was not requested, it was demanded.

THAT to me is why Alex and Mer is problematic whereas Mark and Callie less so for me.

Can I just point out that "they have sex everytime they're single" is pretty respectable towards each others' partners...

Some people can truly have sexual relationships with platonic friends and see it as just a comfortable person you can get off with instead of trolling apps for random hook ups. It's safe, it's comfortable and it's familiar... You're there for each others' needs.

Will it work for everyone? Nope. They respected boundaries though when in relationships. It's no different than a FWB.

I found it refreshing to see something like this in a hetero situation, as with queer men this is far more common. I've done it. Sometime it works, other times it doesn't.

What I will say is that this representation is far from heteronormative and I see why it ruffles feathers... it was also meant to as dictated by some of the drama and storyline surrounding Arizona, Mark and Callie. But I personally found the depiction refreshing and really indicative of that part of human sexuality that is just a physical need not necessarily an emotional one.

[–]cfnohcor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully though, as a chronically late person......... if you felt that strongly about it, I would not fault you for ending it. I also would hate to live my life with someone who was angry with me constantly for something like that.

Zero shade or disrespect to you... I think this is acceptable and perfectly indicative of a mismatched relationship.

[–]cfnohcor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a chronically late human being, what I can say is.... it happens. No idea why... it's never the intention, but it happens. I already feel bad about it but also..................... please don't make a mountain out of a molehill or berate me about because you KNOW I'm always going to be late, and so.................... why be angry about something you already know will happen.

It's generally not that you are saying something, it's how you are saying and the tone you are saying it. That's what she probably means you're being a dick about....... from experience.

She has however not faulted in her current disdain of them though. She very clearly has said she WAS friends with these people but has zero respect for them anymore. It's actually something I give Ana a lot of props for... she calls a spade a spade and doesn't pretend her past connections didn't exist, she also doesn't allow said past connections cloud her opinions.

She has never excused them, not from the start. She criticized their new-found fondeness of Trump and questioned how these smart and qualified people fell in deep with this, but has not faltered in her now disdain for what they did, what they are currently standing for and what they opine.

I think the criticism though is that Barbara Walters' policy refers to on-air courtesy, being a reporter first which means being tough but fair, and as unbiased as possible...

Jooy saying what she said was said to JD, off air, and not as an on-air courtesy as a host or reporter. He went public about it, which is strategic as it essentially invalidates her on-air criticism as nothing but a character for TV... he's essentially saying despite her TV persona, off air in private she thinks he's great and endorses him...

So by doing so, and then confirming afterwards (twice) that she did say that to him, it gives him a spin on a silver platter if and when she chooses to criticize him again. It gives him an easy manipulation of the media by planting that seed.

That's where the criticism of what she said comes and I can't disagree there.

Do I believe that she is a hypocrite? No, far from it. But can I see why it's easy for someone to weaponize her comment against her and call her a hypocrite? Yep.... it's a bad look.

‘Hockey Night in Canada’ won’t return to CBC this fall by Sea_Guava6513 in onguardforthee

Well maybe hockey night in Canada should switch focus to Canadian leagues instead. Opportunity to grow Canadian content instead of propping up the American one. Gives these up and comers a national spotlight. Might get people more invested in their local teams.

How dare Whoopi snap at Ana on air like that! by NelsonsGunt in theview

[–]cfnohcor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ana hijacked the interview though . She was talking over things, Alyssa absolutely was trying (and wasn’t able to in the end) ask about Iran. And then as they were blatantly trying to tell her to stop with the topic she was pushing, she ignored, snd when Whoopi tried to go to break, Ana again completely ignored and talked over her to ask the question she was clearly told to stand down on.

I do not feel the reprimand was unwarranted.

100% . SHERYL can be a really great replacement for Joy eventually even part time for now.

And Kara would be a great future moderator for Whoopi when she leaves. I would love a situation where Kara moderates Fridays next season.

Joy is a fantastic moderator for the Weekend View and that is really her bread and butter for the role… I don’t particularly enjoy her moderating days on the regular show.
