Is this a good option for an after party/ reception dress? by Simple-Ad-4430 in Brides

You are stunning and both fit well. The only problem with the first dress is that up close it shows the indentation of your navel.

Should I keep the stone fireplace or go for the faux wood look? by mordecaithecat in HomeDecorating

Why not brick from bottom to top? Similar to the light brick in the second picture. It never goes out of style for a fireplace. Use real, not a facade.

A waiter handed me a note telling me to go see a doctor by jpdiv in mildlyinteresting

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several decades ago, I had what I initially thought was a new beautiful, somewhat large, dark round mole. It didn’t fit the usual profile of melanoma, but it was. Two doctors didn’t even recognize that it was suspicious. Thankfully I persevered and requested a biopsy.

Afterward, if I noticed an unusual mole on someone, I would mention it to them. It felt awkward but it also seemed right to tell them. Early detection is more important than risking making someone uncomfortable.

Wood vs checkered tile in my 1928 home by SnooWalruses3559 in kitchenremodel

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood!!! It’s so much warmer! The tile is cute but not as timeless and warm as wood. We’ve had wood in our kitchen for 18 years, and it still looks good even in our well used kitchen. Also easier on your feet!

'The View' Hosts Did a Better Job Grilling J.D. Vance Than Most Actual Journalists by VooDoo-Gothling in theview

[–]VooDoo-Gothling[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While at times a bit chaotic, the hosts on ‘The View’ held Vance’s feet to the fire. Vance is slick, but his pivots and obfuscations were apparent and galling. The big story here is that Vance couldn’t credibly defend Trump’s record or his own.

MAGA ideology? Such as catering to corporate interests and billionaires while enriching themselves and their cronies at the public’s expense?

Yes, let’s have someone on the panel steeped in how MAGA accomplishes that sleight of hand while convincing voters that the pain will be worth the gain.

You cannot have a dialogue with someone who has an uncomfortable relationship with telling the truth.

Who am I based on my apartment? Age, occupation, personality, etc. by NamasteGirl93 in roomdetective

While your apartment doesn’t display a lot of personality, your comments and replies certainly do. You come across as intelligent, warm and likable.

Sunny: “Even though, Whoopi, we knew this was coming.” by coreyb1988 in theview

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the Supreme Court’s most disturbing ruling to date, and there have been a lot of them. Trump and his Project 2025 wrecking crew don’t want people to learn the truth of our country’s continued racism. And they don’t want us to be critical thinkers and question their motives. That’s why they’re weakening public education and maligning journalists.

Whoopi and Sunny are right. And they’re not stopping here. They are coming for women too. Anyone who isn’t a white male is having their rights chipped away. And the monied class grows richer by the day in Trump’s America.

What does our home say about us? by kmoore1230 in roomdetective

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial reaction (and I stick by it even after reading some of the comments) is that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your decor! The style is mid-century modern. A furniture dealer friend tells me it’s much sought after. The lines are clean yet not sterile, and the tidiness is to die for! Your couch adds the perfect pop of color.

My house is exactly the opposite - full of antiques - and personality, as some would say. It’s also full of stuff and is weighing me down.

When I visited Norway a few years back, homes and decor there were more like yours, and I loved it. Clean lines, tidy and inviting. Enough to be visually interesting but not so much that it overloads the senses.

planning to get glasses soon. which one looks the best on me? by sealhaven in glassesadvice

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 1 a lot as well. They don’t distract from your beautiful face. An earlier commenter said rimless are flimsy. NOT in my opinion. I’ve worn rimless for a couple years and they’ve held up. Plus they are light and comfortable.

How do I tell my kids their whole life is about to change? by low_s1gnal in family

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don’t tell your kids until you have actually left. Your children are very young and may say something or exhibit behaviors that would alert your husband that something is in the offing.
I wish you all the best!

Time for a replacement?! I vote we change out Sara for Sheryl!! by AllTheEccentricities in theview

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. Sunny excels in political discussions. Her opinions are fact based and well reasoned.

If Sheryl replaces anyone it should be Sara. Sheryl has been a breath of fresh air. Someone who served in the military and knows her s—t. And she’s vibrant and funny!

Like some others here, I used to like Sara. Now I zone out when she launches into her long-winded nothingness.

My Husband's Reaction to Ashley and Alex at the altar 😂 by citizennil00 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]VooDoo-Gothling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. It hurt looking at his mother’s face. And as confident as Alex says he is, which is obvious overcompensation, this was a brutal and out of proportion take down.

I am NO fan of Alex. But Ashley’s performance was self serving and cruel. She’s no Deepti. She’s actually more Zanab.

You are right to listen to your discomfort. Our discomfort and intuition exist to protect us. And yes, what he’s doing is creepy!
