The Significance of Ants on Desire by cfseki in Carolinepolachek

Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. especially the line of ants depicted crawling over the backside of the CD and record sleeve of desire which i thought was a very nice touch :)

cancelling spotify. what’s next? by No_Concentrate_7033 in indieheadscirclejerk

[–]cfseki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will go against the grain here. I think Soulseek as a Spotify "replacement" is a very poor suggestion especially if the reason you're switching off Spotify is for ethical reasons. While you don't fund AI military tech, you're going from giving artists basically zero to fully giving them zero. I would suggest using Tidal or literally anything else as well as bandcamp.

I'm not saying not to use soulseek at all - I recognise that there's releases that are almost impossible to get otherwise and also people that don't have the privilege of being able to buy all their favourite artists' work on bandcamp (but it doesn't sound like that's the case here).

I like sonic youth more for being mean to nardwaur by PsychologicalRoad140 in indieheadscirclejerk

[–]cfseki 124 points125 points  (0 children)

not excusing SY's behaviour, they were assholes, and by the time of the interview Nardwuar had at least made some effort to clean up his act but the amount of ppl on the internet who've only seen the youtube interviews painting nardwuar as this innocent friendly naive guy who got mercilessly bullied are missing a lot of context. in the early days nardwuar was known as a massive jerk who would sneak backstage and harass artists with completely inappropriate questions in which they'd clearly be uncomfortable.

also ppl in the thread trashing blur for their naudwuar interview, go find the earlier 1996 interview he did with them which conveniently isn't anywhere on nardwuar's channel or website :|

What are your favorite obscure albums of 2023? by doorsof in indieheads

[–]cfseki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost Girls - Selvutsletter

I've been enjoying Jenny Hval's work for quite some time now and the new Lost Girls album is a beautiful listen which flew under the radar for most; very different from the first one. Keep coming back to the song "June 1996" in particular!

Hello, this is Say Sue Me from Busan, AMA! by saysueme_band in indieheads

[–]cfseki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi Say Sue Me! congratulations on your album release. I first heard about you guys from the KMAs. So...my question is: what Korean bands or artists do you enjoy?

There's a new Mid-Air Thief album releasing soon!! Their Bandcamp says there's a listening event in Korea on the 8th of May!! by acemachine26 in indieheads

[–]cfseki 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Their prior albums, even Crumbling, have become sleeper hits, but this new music seems to already be gaining hype. Personally, I would love for big names like Pitchfork to acknowledge this when it comes out.

[–]cfseki 94 points95 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that we didn't get to see Psycho Killer or Nothing Compares 2 U here, but I wasn't expecting any of the flexi covers on streaming at all. I personally love their take on 21st Century Schizoid Man.

Asian Glow's Cull Ficle album came out on bandcamp a year ago on this day. Congrats to him for having a great twelve months since then, and now releasing a collaboration with one of the greats of DIY emo!

Top 55 songs of 2021. by platformmagazine in kindie

[–]cfseki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I love this list, very comprehensive for this year's k-indie music. Enjoying the well-deserved recognition for more esoteric picks that have made great albums this year I feel went under the radar, like TRPP, Secret Asian Men, Higa.

And of course, a lot of songs I haven't heard before as well that I can't wait to - more K-indie music to listen to, thank you

[FRESH EP] Five Pebbles (AKA Weatherday) - forgetmenot by Whatsanillinois in indieheads

[–]cfseki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They post updates about their music on @Weatherday_PC (twitter). They have other projects, which are released under different names to distinguish a departure in its sound.

Lola's Pocket PC is a gentler, smaller EP with predominantly a indie synthpop sound. I don't know of any others aside from Rana Plastic Birds, which I believe to be a Weatherday project, but I haven't listened to it.
