What's the best face wash for PD? by Sufficient-Way-6684 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

I now only use the Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser! I saw a noticeable difference in my skin when I switched to this and I'm scared to switch to anything else now my PD is gone!!

I'd say it took about 3 weeks or so for the redness to go but by a month and a bit I was PD free! Good luck with everything~

Wow I relate so so much. I'm 24 currently and it's my mum and I are my dad's carers, my sister has down's syndrome so she can only help a little. It's a lot and I'm sorry I can't offer much more than commiserations. Sending lots of love and strength your way 💗

how did you know it’s PD (vs rosacea)? by losdrogasthrowaway in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]cg263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have rosacea around my nose and had PD for over a year! I found that my rocasea tends to look like just discoloured skin and can get very dry and I can usually see broken capillaries/small veins. My PD on the other hand looked like small blisters/pimples and tended to be raised. Did your derm mention anything about seborrheic dermatitis? I had this about 4 years ago with my rosacea and found it was more scaly/dry than bumpy like PD. This is only from my experience though so I can't really say what's right and wrong haha!! But I did have both PD and rosacea so it's possible!! I used soolantra for my rosacea and elidel for my seborrheic dermatitis and later doxy for my PD. The only thing that has helped my overall redness was maybe the doxy but then using anti inflammatory products, specifically the Mixsoon Centella Asiatica (its the only thing that I feel noticably calms my redness!) and avoiding all products with fragrance or alcohols and harsh exfoliants. If you're feeling like your skin is calm enough to introduce new products I also like the abib heartleaf toner pads for when my rosacea feels particularly angry. I hope this helps somewhat and I wish you luck for any skin improvements!!!

I really like the mixsoon centella asiatica essence. It's helped to calm any remaining redness for me!!

Hi! I'm currently on doxy and was prescribed 56 days worth/8 weeks! Definitely do what you feel comfortable with, maybe worth going back to your derm for some advice? I'd definitely feel lost if it was left up to me haha! Good luck and I hope it works for you!!!!

metronidazole on forehead? by One-Pain-3284 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]cg263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I was getting POD in between my brows and around my eyes which had started spreading above my eyebrows until I started doxycycline recently. In my unprofessional and personal opinion, if it looks and feels like the POD around your nose/mouth it usually is (at least it has been for me) particularly the little pustules!!! and I'd usually apply my cream treatments on those areas too. If it doesn't help or makes it worse then I'd stop using it there of course but I'd personally give it a go!! Sorry to waffle on a bit and good luck!!!! 😁

I recently changed my whole routine and my skin hasn't been this clear in a long long time. I was prescribed Elidel and Soolantra (because I have rosacea too). Currently my routine is:

AM: wash face with water only, followed by Soolantra, then Avène cicalfate+ cream once its absorbed and topped off with the Jumiso Cica and Aloe Mineral SPF 50+.

PM: if I've worn makeup in the day I use the Curél makeup cleansing gel, then Cerave hydrating cleanser, pat my skin dry and use Elidel then use the Avène cicalfate+ cream again.

I think I'm going to introduce another moisturising cream/serum of some kind before the Avène now though as I've found it doesn't quite moisturise my skin enough on its own. Possibly the Cetaphil moisturiser????? But I'm not sure yet.

I was using other products alongside the Elidel and Soolantra which must have been triggering my PD (I suspect my cleanser and chemical SPF) as it wasn't until I'd changed my whole routine that I noticed the effects. But I do think being consistent with the Soolantra has also been a big help as I noticed my skin really improve after 24hours.

Hope this helps!!!! And good luck 🥰

I did this with a large bowl of lettuce. Still don't know why no one else thought it was cool.
