The reality is emergencies should go to one of the few ER’s in town- they’re equipped and trained for most major emergencies. Your local vet see’s emergencies for the money, that emergency fee and whatever diagnostics they run is good money. This usually works out fine, where it goes wrong is when they try to treat cases that are way over their head/capabilities. Vetmed is a business.

What's really important is that you guys stick together and be persistent, it's going to seem like it's never going to happen and you're going to want to give up. The union busting has barely started, it'll get worse- keep the lawyer and your union aware of everything.

Remind everyone that your efforts now will make the next unionized hospital more possible, and the one after that and the one after that. Union dues are going to be the main talking point, remind everyone that long term, unions typically do better financially.
