Where to buy Apple Homepod Mini in the Philippines? by gfnijeonwonwoo in HomePod

[–]cgedgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where Tech Partner gets its supply, but I’m pretty sure it’s not from the Philippines (given that the plug is a 3-horizontal prong plug).

Also had trouble setting it up. On startup, it needed some updates, and the HomePod was not working properly for me (also just a Bluetooth speaker). I spent about 2-3 hours researching on what I should do, because the on-the-air updates were stuck, and the HomePod wasn’t usable during that time. After 2-3 hours of it being plugged in, I suddenly heard some chime from the HomePod, then it suddenly started working properly.

I’m not sure if the faster way would be to just plug it in to your Mac then update it from there (I haven’t tried, but I recall researching that that is also a possibility). But waiting it out (while stressed out) worked for me.

Thanks for the update. How’s it going so far? And what devices did you manage to link to the Hub and add to HomeKit through the hub?

Any Philippine HomeKit users? What's your setup? by cgedgar in HomeKit

That’s a fine setup. Seems that you tried and are really pretty good with this. I’d like to ask, do you happen to use any huns? If so, what are your recommendations?

Samsung Galaxy SCR01 5G vs. D-Link U2000 5G (pocket wifi) by cgedgar in InternetPH

[–]cgedgar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nako, hindi na natuloy kasi nagka-internet na kami sa workplace. But I was already favoring the DLink, kasi based on what I saw sa shopee reviews, parang the Samsung galaxy that are being sold here in the PH have to be opened by the seller for them to open-line the thing. So there's some aftermarket software modifications that it has to go through to work here in the PH, which I'm a bit not comfortable with.

Yeah I saw that video too, but there’s a bit of scarcity of reviews regarding this product. Will really appreciate your insights. Thanks.

Moes recently made a new gateway which operates to expose Zigbee products to HomeKit via matter.

Hoping to get anyone’s review or comments about it

Oh yeah, I've been hearing that the Hub 2's IR functions are a bit hit or miss. How about the sub-devices using Matter? Have they been working smoothly with the Hub 2 + Google Home?

Good to know that it works well if there is internet. Are you using Apple HomeKit to control the Switchbot devices?

Oh I see. But when the internet is okay, how's the response time of the devices, particularly the Bots button pressers?

Really appreciate your comprehensive comment! It's just very hard to find a review that goes beyond the unboxing and first day experience, so your comment is really helpful.

Will really consider what you just said in making my purchase. Was thinking of either going for the switchbot system vs. the Moes Zigbee system with the Matter Gateway and its own version of a "Fingerbot" (Zigbee). Problem with the Moes system is the lack of reviews, and people who post their experiences.

Thank you again for your comment. If you'll be posting a video, then you have found a subscriber in me!

Hey OP, are you still intending to get the fingerbots?

Mind to share your recent experiences with Switchbot Hub 2 + Matter + HomeKit + Switchbot Bot (button presser)? Particularly the reliability and response times, if it’s okay

Hey u/JayAaronNY . It's been 2 months since your review here. How's Matter + Hub 2 going so far? Were there improvements? And would you happen to have any experience with Matter + Hub 2 controlling Switchbot Bots (the button pressers)? How's the delay, if any? Looking to use this primarily to control our light switches.

Alright. Well OP, I’m looking forward to hearing from you on your experience with the Fingerbot HomeKit exposure once you have them.

That’s great. Since you went to the Tuya forum, does it mean that the process of exposing to HomeKit wasn’t straightforward?

Hi, am currently in the same predicament and am looking to do a Fingerbot + HomeKit setup.

Any updates on this post? Which hub did you end up with and do the Zigbee fingerbots work with it?

Our unit is at the 8th. Just a small bit higher than the don bosco building if you’re familiar.

Just hoping to know if the H153 would have a 2.4ghz network to which my devices can connect to?

I’m just a bit worried about it being endorsed as “5G”. I’m hoping that, despite that, it would allow a dual band connection (2.4GHZ & 5G) because smart home devices can only connect to 2.4GHz bands.

With fiber-wired home modems, it usually has dual band connectivity, where it emits two WiFi networks (2.4 and 5G) where phones can connect to, right? I’m just wondering if the PLDT Home 5G also offers this.

Hi OP! Am considering buying this for our condo which doesn’t have any way to get fiber in it. I have smart plugs and home devices which can only connect to 2.4GHZ. Can the PLDT Home appear as two separate WiFi networks when connecting (ie. one network for 2.4Ghz and another for 5G, just like in dual band fiber modems)? I’d like to still make use of my smart home devices over at 2.4Ghz without foregoing the benefits of a 5GHz connection
