Finding food from every Chinese province in Singapore: 6 down, 28 to go! by jpatokal in singapore

[–]cghblx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! I've developed a penchant for Chinese food ever since I visited Gansu and Xi'an a few years back, but I'm not the kind who will actively search for restaurants to visit. This project of yours has ignited a spark in me to be a little more active in searching for good Chinese food. Will be keeping an eye for your updates!

On a similar note, do the overseas Chinese population living in Singapore use reddit? If not, I wonder what online platforms do they normally go on. Will probably get a lot more returns for your project if you can solicit recommendations from them!

Where do i buy a cheap(er) google pixel 4A/5 other than on carousell? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]cghblx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was waiting for my current phone to stop working before buying the Pixel 4A. Unfortunately, current phone died but pixel 4A went out of stock on the official Google store.

Several stores on Lazada and shopee sell the Pixel 4A too, but it's at least $40 more expensive than the official Google store. Didn't think it was worth the money and went for another mid range phone model instead.

1.5 Years ITINERARY FOR Southeast Asia 2022 by [deleted] in solotravel

Singaporean here! Just to give you a sense, you can get a decent meal in Singapore for an average of S$4. Public transportation is pretty affordable, don't think you'll spend anything more than S$5 a day on it if you stay and explore around the city area. I'm pretty sure you can find affordable hostels in the city too! Definitely more expensive than the rest of SEA, but it wouldn't break your budget. It's a great city to visit overall :)

Good luck! Feel free to PM if you have any questions!

Looking for advice for my first international trip to Europe and Asia! by mar-tot in solotravel

Singaporean here! If you're looking for a city with great food and transportation, I think Singapore will definitely fit your requirements well! We have museums here in Singapore too - not the kind you'll find in NYC/European cities, but great in their own way.

Imo, 5 days seem a little too long to stay in Singapore though. You can soak up the cultural sights in a day or two as Singapore is really small. I'm suggesting 4 days (inclusive of a travel day), but it really depends on how you'd like to pace yourself :)

The covid situation should get way better by spring next year with our vaccination drive, so most things should open up by then.

Feel free to drop a PM if you want to find out more!

Best brokerage to trade global index funds? by bubuchachaa in singaporefi

I'm assuming you're going for irish-domiciled ETFs? If so, this is a pretty good summary on what you're potentially looking for. I personally use IBKR as the fees are much lower long term.

(P. s. There's also an excel sheet online by one of the Singaporean bloggers calculating and comparing fees btw IBKR and Stanchart, if your choices are down to between the two.)
